With a gradual flutter, (Y/n) gently opened her eyes. The ceiling of the hospital wing was bathed in a soft, dim nighttime glow, casting a serene ambience. She gazed at it for a moment, bewildered about her whereabouts, before the memories of what had occurred earlier came rushing back.
During their training. (Y/n) hadn't even noticed the Bludger hurtling her way earlier, as her mind was swamped with a whirlwind of thoughts. The Bludger was meant to strike her square in the face, but she instinctively raised her hands in defense, causing it to collide with her trembling fingers instead. A searing pain shot through her, and for a heart-stopping moment, she teetered on the edge of her broomstick.
Thankfully, Ron was quick to her side, his presence a comforting anchor. With his assistance, she gracefully descended from her broom. Yet, before they left the pitch, Ron's voice rang out, calling Slope a "stupid git" with a fierce vehemence that left (Y/n) bewildered.
It wasn't until they were inside the castle, en route to the hospital wing, that Ron shed light on the situation. Slope, it turned out, had accidentally redirected the Bludger towards her with a misjudged swing of his bat. (Y/n) couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for Slope. His erratic flying style and lack of finesse on a broom were well-known, making it all the more plausible that it had been a mere accident and not a deliberate attack.
Madam Pomfrey attended to (Y/n) without excessive questioning. She administered a potion with an disagreeable taste, whose label (Y/n) didn't bother to read. Madam Pomfrey, however, informed her that it was meant to mend her broken bone, alleviate the pain, and reduce the swelling in her hand, which had borne the brunt of the Bludger's impact.
As she lay there, (Y/n) thought to herself, "What a lucky day– a cancelled date and a harrowing training session. When will things take a turn for the better?" She couldn't help but shake her head inwardly.
This marked the second occasion on which she found herself as a patient in the hospital wing. She also noted that she occupied the same bed as the year before.
In this castle, the hospital wing was among her least favoured places, as it was here that she had first come to terms with the fact that she was no longer in the real world. It was the place that hammered home the reality that she had been transported into a book, with no knowledge of what lay ahead, except for the certainty that the story's protagonist would survive and eventually marry...
"Thank goodness you're awake," a voice from the edge of her bed made her jump, almost causing her to let out a startled cry. She snapped her gaze to the source of the voice and found herself instinctively furrowing her brow at the sight of Harry's tousled, damp hair. Her eyes also couldn't help but notice his attire, which, though soaked a while ago, was slowly drying out.
