Throughout the remainder of the week's Potions classes, Harry diligently adhered to the Half-Blood Prince's instructions whenever they diverged from those of Libatius Borage. Consequently, by their fourth lesson, Slughorn found himself effusively extolling Harry's prowess, asserting that he had seldom encountered a student of such remarkable talent. (Y/n), Ron, and Hermione, however, did not share in the jubilation. While Harry had generously offered to share the enigmatic book with his friends, both (Y/n) and Ron struggled to decipher the intricate handwriting, precluding them from incessantly seeking Harry's assistance without arousing suspicion.
On occasions when Harry completed his potions ahead of the others, he discreetly aided (Y/n), deftly executing tasks like cutting ingredients, all the while feigning nonchalance. (Y/n) appeared content with this covert support, although Harry detected a lingering sense of annoyance for some undisclosed reason.
Meanwhile, Hermione tenaciously adhered to what she termed the 'official' instructions, her perseverance accompanied by a growing testiness as her efforts consistently produced inferior results compared to the Prince's unconventional guidance.
As Harry idly pondered the enigmatic identity of the Half-Blood Prince, his exploration of Advanced Potion-Making was hindered by a deluge of homework. Nonetheless, he managed to glean that nearly every page bore the Prince's additional notes, delving beyond mere potion-making intricacies. Interspersed within were instructions for what appeared to be spells of the Prince's own creation.
"Or herself," interjected Hermione, overhearing Harry's revelation to (Y/n) and Ron in the common room on a leisurely Saturday evening. "It might have been a girl. The handwriting seems more feminine than masculine."
"The Half-Blood Prince, he was called," Harry remarked. "How many girls have been princes?" Hermione offered no retort, opting instead for a scowl as she deftly moved her essay on "The Principles of Re-Materialisation" away from Ron, who was attempting to read it upside-down.
