"Honestly, Ron, you're making it sound like we're having a romantic picnic or something. It's just a way to endure this never-ending class. No need to overthink it."
-THIRD PERSON-
𝕴𝖙 was daybreak. Harry, Ron, (Y/n), and Hermione had sneaked out of their dormitories very early and hurried up to the Owlery together to send a note to Sirius (while (Y/n) sent her reply to Mrs. Weasley). Now they stood gazing out at the misty grounds. All four of them had swollen, tired eyes and pale complexions because they had stayed up late into the night discussing Mr. Crouch.
"Let's go over it again, Harry," said Hermione. "What exactly did Mr. Crouch say?"
"I've already told you, he wasn't making much sense," said Harry. "He said he wanted to warn Dumbledore about something. He definitely mentioned Bertha Jorkins and seemed to think she was dead. He kept saying things were his fault... he talked about his son."
"Well, that was his own doing," said Hermione curtly.
"He was completely out of his mind," said Harry. "Half the time, he thought his wife and son were still alive, and he kept talking to Percy about work and giving him orders."
"Maybe he's feeling guilty for what he did to his son. I wonder what he wanted to tell Dumbledore... and why he thinks Bertha Jorkins is dead? Where did he get that idea? Could he know something we don't? It's all very confusing."
"Confusing?" Ron asked, interested. Even Hermione was paying close attention to (Y/n).
"Yes," she said quietly. "Because on that night... the night I thought about ending my life," she swallowed nervously, worried about Ron's reaction. She knew she wasn't really Sabrina, but it was still sensitive for Ron. Seeing no discomfort from him, she continued. "That was also the night Harry saw Mr. Crouch on the Marauder's Map, sneaking into Professor Snape's office." She looked at the three of them. Ron looked puzzled, Hermione understood immediately, and Harry seemed lost in thought.
"What I mean, Ron, isn't it strange? If he wanted to warn Dumbledore, why go to Snape's office instead? Harry, do you remember when Snape said his ingredients were stolen again and blamed you? I think Mr. Crouch took them. But why?"
"That's still a mystery,"
"Did Snape say which ingredients were missing?" Hermione asked.
"No. I don't remember," (Y/n) replied quickly.
"He only said some ingredients were missing. He blamed me because of what happened in our second year when you took the Boomslang skin," Harry said.
"Anyway, what did Mr. Crouch say about You-Know-Who?" Ron asked cautiously.
