"C'me here, Harry..."
"No."
"You can't stay here, Harry... come on, now..."
"No."
He resisted leaving Dumbledore's side, adamant about staying put. Hagrid's hand on his shoulder trembled. Then another voice interjected, "Harry, come on."
A much smaller and more comforting hand enclosed his, pulling him upwards. He yielded to its gentle guidance without much thought. Only as he walked blindly back through the crowd did he realize, from a hint of lavender in the air, that it was Sabrina leading him back into the castle. Incomprehensible voices assaulted him, sobs and shouts and wails pierced the night, but Harry and Sabrina walked on, ascending the steps into the Entrance Hall. Faces blurred at the edges of Harry's vision, people stared at him, whispering, speculating, and Gryffindor rubies shimmered on the floor like droplets of blood as they headed towards the marble staircase.
"We're heading to the hospital wing," said Sabrina.
"I'm not hurt," replied Harry.
"It's McGonagall's orders," added Sabrina. "Everyone's up there, Ron and Hermione and Lupin and everyone –"
Dread resurfaced in Harry's chest as he recalled the motionless figures he had left behind.
"Sabrina, who else didn't make it?"
"Don't worry, none of us."
"But the Dark Mark – Malfoy mentioned –"
"No one's dead, but Bill...anyway, don't dwell on it."
Yet, there was an ominous undertone in her voice that Harry recognized.
"What happened to Bill?"
"He's resting in the hospital wing. But he's okay. He's alive."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course, I'm sure... he's, um, a bit worse for wear, that's all. Greyback attacked him. Madam Pomfrey says he won't – won't look the same anymore..." Sabrina's voice quivered slightly. "We're not entirely sure about the after-effects – I mean, Greyback being a werewolf but not transformed at the time."
