"Maw maw's lah baybeh?"
Hearing Naima laughs just made me smile.
"I can't believe it. All these toys we bought her and she aint playing with none of them." I shook my head.
"I don't know why y'all did to begin with."
"Not me. Her crazy momma" I shook my head. "Misty been going crazy when it comes to buying stuff for her."
"And you let her so what's the point."
"I'm just saying."
"Mhm."
"You let ya wife have her way then complain bout it."
"Nothing new mom."
Turning, Misty came walking in.
"He always complains but seems to forget that he tells me to have fun. Then when I decline, he gets in his feelings."
"I do not." I protested.
"Yes you do." Both my momma and Misty said.
"Whatever. Let me go keep my daughta' company."
"Yeah you do that."
Excusing myself, I took my plate and walked into the living room. Nai was there enjoying her cousins company as they all played with her.
"Aight y'all. This lah one gotta go down fa ha nap."
Seeing me, she began to stretch her arms up for me to lift her. It was no doubt that she knew who her parents were and didn't hesitate to want to come to us when she saw us.
"Yes sweet pea. Daddy came for ya." I laughed as I lifted her. "Ya ready for ya nap? Ya need ta be changed?"
Lifting her higher, I sniffed her then blew on her belly, causing her to laugh.
"Alright, alright. Let's go." I laughed.
Heading to our room, she was only playing with my chains.
"That's ya uncle Mel." I told her as I sat on the bed. "He's watching over us now and he gonna make sure you straight too."
Laying her on her back on the bed, I leaned over and kissed her. Gumming her chubby cheeks, she laughed.
"Daddy loves you so much." I stared at her.
I didn't know what it was, but she was just fascinated with my chain. Laying there, I lightly sang to her.
"Why ya not going ta sleep lah lady?" I tickled her.
"She needs to be fed and bathed that's why." Misty laughed as she entered the room.
"Really?"
"Yeah. That's her midday routine."
As she went into the dresser, getting her clothes, I changed her.
"Here you go momma?"
"Thank you daddy." She smirked.
"Hey now." I smirked back.
As they went into the bathroom, her phone went off as I was about to follow her.
"Babe can you get that for me?"
"Yeah."
"Who is it from?"
Time I got to the phone it had stopped ringing.
"It stopped. Its a New York number. Who you got in New York to be calling you?"
