The pending class assignments, the complicated maths problem, that uncommon English essay topic- nothing posed a bigger threat to Jungkook's peace of mind than what the daily domestic chaos did. He was sick of listening to his parents quarrelling over stupidest things day after day, months after months, well now it has become years after years though.

The introverted nature of the young boy doesn't allow him to appear affable to his classmates resulting to very limited friend circle. The only thing that helped him deal all the stress was his study session with his Namjoon hyung who, by the way, insisted to shift the sessions in the Kim house.

Namjoon felt too bad for the younger who had to  be the silent spectator of his parents' illogical arguments. Sana and Min-soo had an arranged marriage but it was a happy and peaceful one. So, their son never had to face any troublesome circumstances at home.

September came early this year making both the young boys one year wiser. Namjoon was 15 now and Junkook 11. To say, Namjoon was facing many changes within himself both physically and mentally. His voice was getting deeper and his already tall body made him look older than he actually was.

"Happy birthday Kook!"
Jungkook's pupils were dilated to see the surprise in front of him. A small chocolate cake with a mini candle over it was placed on a tray over Namjoon's study table. There was a small box beside it.

"Hyung! You did all these?" Namjoon nodded with a happy smile. He was not someone to celebrate birthday but he felt to do something for his little student's special day.

"But my birthday is tomorrow."
"I know Kook. But tomorrow you will be busy with your family, so I thought of celebrating today."
"Thank you so much hyung!" He quickly hugged the taller boy. Kook being a little shorter for his age could only reach upto his lowest chest length.

Namjoon felt a little surprised by the Jungkook's gesture. He was not accustomed to skin-ship with anyone. But he let it pass as he can feel how emotional the younger has gotten getting this small surprise.

The cake was too small, so Jungkook just ate it with hands offering a microscopic portion to Namjoon, that too hesitantly. Namjoon started laughing at this action of Kook.

"Open your gift now."
Jungkook licked his fingers finishing the cake, but some chocolate icing cream was still on his lips that looked untidy. Namjoon took a tissue and tried to wipe off the cream from the boy's hands and lips. He did, but in the process his eyes lingered on the soft pink lips for too long than was necessary. He was currently wiping, cleaning the younger's hands but those felt like sponge.

"Hyung, shall I open the gift now?"
The broke Namjoon's trance and he quickly took his hand off of Jungkook's hands.
"Yeah-yes, open the box."
"Is this a-an ipod??" The little boy was confused to find such an expensive electronic in the gift box.
"Yes Kook, and these two are ear buds." Namjoon said pointing out the two small fibre materials covered in a thin layer of sponge cloth.
"But this is too costly hyung. I wanted one so badly but eomma said it is for adults and it is not a good idea to spend so much money on luxury items."

"Anyone can use this and I want you to have it. I have added some good music and you will put the ear buds when there will be noise coming from outside. It will not entirely prevent it but still it will make you feel better." Namjoon referred to the raucous that Seong and Him-chan creates on daily basis. But he didn't say it directly to save Jungkook's from embarrassment.

"Thank you so much hyung!"

Jungkook was too innocent to understand the effort his Namjoon hyung made to buy that gift which was way above his monthly allowance. He  saved for months to buy it as he didn't want the younger to ho through the terrible experience to listen to every curse word his parents used for each other.
