2021 (part 3)

Rushed footsteps echoed through the staircase hallway till the door was unlocked. Throwing the backpack on the couch, a man ran towards the kitchen where another man was switching off the coffee machine.

"Thank god you're here, Joon."
"Just tell me what happened? Why did you say it was urgent over the call?"
"He was admitted to the hospital."
Namjoon fell down on his knees. He was way beyond shocked at the news.

"What happened to him?"
"His shift was over, on his way back to the entrance gate of the hotel, he fell unconscious. He was taken to the nearby hospital, but was discharged after he gained consciousness. The doctor has prescribed some medicines and said it is due to improper diet."
"He's not eating well, then." Namjoon looked down at the floor trying to find an answer why the said person is not taking care of himself.

"That's what the lady said."
"Which lady?"
"She found Kook first, then took him to the hospital and then home."
"You didn't go?"
"I talked to Kook, he sounded fine. Moreover, I didn't want to raise any doubt in his mind about me being your partner in crime." A small chuckle left the man's mouth while saying the last three words.

"Don't make jokes now, I need to go to him." Namjoon stood up to grab the car keys he threw on the dining table few minutes back.
"But Joon! You worked so hard all these months. You want to ruin everything?"
"Nothing matters to me if he is not well. I need to see him and take care of him."
"Then I will go with you too."
"No, you stay back."

Parking the car outside, Namjoon rushed to his old apartment where Jungkook lives alone now. He didn't bring the spare key with him when he left as that would be breach of privacy for Jungkook, so he had to ring the doorbell which was answered by an unexpected yet familiar figure.

"Thank goodness you're home, Namjoon. I was calling you but your phone said switched off."
Namjoon was still in puzzled state.
"He's in the bedroom. You can go and see him." The person pointed at the bedroom.
"You found him first?"
"Yes, I was going to the hotel he works in for a meeting, he fell unconscious in front of me. Poor thing! Doctor said he needs a lot of care."
"I will check on him, Ms. Park."

Namjoon ran to the room to find Jungkook lying on the bed with a securely tugged blanket. His eyes were closed, but Namjoon could read the pain on his face. He went towards the bed tip toeing as he didn't want to wake him the sleeping boy creating any noise.

Forgive me, my love. All of this happened because of me, if I didn't leave you, you wouldn't be sick today. I fucked up everything.

Namjoon kept cursing himself silently sitting on the floor beside the bed when he heard a little moan. It seemed like Jungkook woke up from sleep. The elder sat on the edge of the bed and placed his palm on the younger's cheek. Jungkook opened his eyes slowly and his heart skipped a beat to find his most desirable person. He sat up instantly shifting himself to Namjoon's lap.

Namjoon was take aback at his lover's action as this was not the reaction he expected from Jungkook seeing him after 10 long months. It was October already. He expected some punches and slaps as welcome present though. He quickly pulled him closer who buried his face on Namjoon's chest holding onto the collars of his shirt.

"I'm sorry baby!" No response in return.
"Please forgive me for everything I have done to you. You fell sick because of me only." Again, no response.
"You seem to have lost a lot of weight. I was already punishing myself, why did you decide to punish me more by ignoring about my Kookie's well being?"
