"I don't think I can do this." You said as you anxiously bounced your leg. "I want to go home."
"Baby, it'll be fine," Mina said as she squeezed your hand. "I know you can do this."
"I have an idea. How about we go home and I'll come back to get my flu shot another day!"
You were about to get off of the exam table but Mina stopped you.
"No, baby. We both know that if we do that, you'll try and back out that day too. Let's just get this over with today." She said with a soft smile.
"I just hate needles, Mina." You mumbled.
"I know you do. But I promise, it'll be quick and then it's done and over with. I'll be right here the whole time, holding your hand through it all."
You were about to reply when the door opened and the nurse walked inside.
"Y/N, right?"
You nodded nervously, making Mina squeeze your hands reassuringly.
"Are you sure we can't come back another day?" You whined as you watched the nurse approach you.
She had the needle in one hand and the wipe for your arm in the other.
"No, baby. You need to get it today. Especially since the flu is going to start spreading more and more soon."
You jumped when the nurse began to rub the wipe across your arm and Mina chuckled.
"She's scared of needles," Mina explained as you squeezed your eyes shut and groaned.
"It's okay. You don't need to be afraid. It'll be over before you know it." The nurse promised.
And just when she was about to stick the needle in your arm, you spoke up.
"Wait! Can you count to three?"
"I'll count to three, baby. It's okay." Mina said as she brushed her thumb across your knuckles.
"Ready?" The nurse asked.
"Don't close your eyes, my love. Just look at me. Look into my eyes." Mina said as she used her other hand to gently cup your cheek.
"Okay." You said as your breath hitched in your throat.
"Keep looking into my eyes. One, two... three."
As soon as Mina said three, the needle went into your arm.
"Good girl. You're doing good." Mina said as she caressed your cheek. "It's almost done."
A second later, the nurse pulled the needle out and placed a bandage over the spot.
"All done!"
You exhaled heavily as Mina stared at you, looking so proud.
"Great job, my love! You did so good!" Mina said before kissing your lips lovingly. "How about we go get some food or some ice cream? Your choice, my treat."
You got up and started to make your way out of the office as Mina held your hand tightly.
"Both." You grinned.
"Well, you did a great job, so we can do both." She smiled as you got into the car.
"I don't think I could've done it without you there with me. Thank you, baby." You said before kissing her again.
"Anytime, my love." She happily said before she pulled the car out of the spot and headed to your favorite restaurant.
