JEEVIKA

When I came inside the room I found it all decorated, I felt like crying. I went to sit on the bed and took my phone in my hand. I saw a notification that read One message from Rudra. I opened the chat immediately. It seemed like a long paragraph. I started reading it.

Jeevu,

I know you would be restless right now. We loved each other and I know if it had only to include you, you would have waited for me till eternity. I understand you and your problems. I know you tried your best to manage the situation. I hope your husband loves you, respects you. I just wanted to say one thing to you that maybe destiny didn't wanted us to be each other's forever. Maybe God has decided something more beautiful for you. I suggest you to move on from us and try to build a new relation with your new partner. I know you're the best and you can do this. We'll always be good friend jeevu. Wishing you good luck for your future and a happy married life.

My eyes went all watery while reading this message. I just wanted to take a deep sleep. I kept my phone aside and went towards the window to see the moon which was shining brightly. I was lost in my own world when He came inside the room. My chains of thoughts broke immediately.

He wanted to talk with me. I listened to his every word very carefully. I saw pain in his eyes when I told him that I was forced into this marriage. I accepted that what my relationship with Rudra was is now my past. I know I cannot do anything about it now. I asked him for some time.

He agreed on this. He extended me a offer for friendship. He was right afterall, in order to live together we need to make a bond and what could be better than a relationship of friendship?

He gave a glass of water to me and forwarded his handkerchief to me as he very well noticed tears in the corner of my eyes.

Next what he asked left me in a shock. He asked, "Ek baat bataiye, aap uss samay darr kyu gayi thi?".

I looked at him for a few seconds and then replied," nahi toh ". He said,"woh hum samajh gaye, ab bas itna bata dijye kya aap bhaiya se uncomfortable thi?".

I thought in my mind that how did he came to know about this. I was confused what to reply and I started to move from my place. Seeing discomfort on my face he immediately held my wrist and stopped me from moving.

"Abhi abhi dosti ki hai aapne, apne dost ko nahi bataengi",he said.

I didn't knew what to do. I went silent and kept on looking down.

"Acha bas haan ya naa me sir hila dijiye, hum samajh jayenge", he said.

I didn't respond anything. "Ekbar trust karke dekhiye, nahi torenge hum, I promise you this", he said after waiting good seconds for my response.

I looked up into his eyes and nodded my head slowly.

"Bhaiya se hi uncomfortable thi na aap?",he asked.

I nodded my head again. "You don't like his touch?",he asked.

I shook my head and I started getting all emotional again when past incidents of my childhood started hitting my mind.

He shifted more closer to me, made me look into his eyes and said in a very comforting voice," It's okay, you don't need to be scared now. I'll always be by your side and no one will be ever able to touch you again without your consent in my presence and I'll ensure that".

Tears formed in my eyes listening to his words. No one, not even my parents where able to notice how uncomfortable and scared I felt around bhaiya but he noticed it HE DID ! I've never told about this fear of mine to anyone not even Rudra.

Tears rolled down my eyes and he said, "ab kyun ro rahi hai aap, kuch galat keh diya kya maine apni biwi se". He came near my face and said in a childish voice,"acha sorry na maaf kijiye hume ab nahi kahenge".

Unknowingly I smiled listening to his words and he laughed seeing my face.

He took out a box from his pocket of suit and forwarded it towards me. I raised my eyebrows looking at him.

"I bought this wedding gift for my newly wedded wife, but it's okay, I would love to gift this now to my new friend and my partner for life", he said and opened the box for me.

It was a gold chain with a pendant that read letter 'J'. It looked so pretty.

"Pehna de hum",he asked. I nodded my head. He made me wear it.

"Did you like it?", he asked.

"It's beautiful", I replied.

"It has the first initial of your name, do you know why?", he asked. I shook my head in negative.

"It will always remind you to keep yourself first in every situation", he replied. I smiled listening to his answer.

He stood up from the bed and said, " so jaiye aap hum sofa pe sojaenge".

"It's okay aap yahan sojaiye aap hi ka bed hai I'll sleep on sofa", I replied and started getting up from the bed.

He stopped me, moved fastly towards the sofa, sat there and said, " ab toh yeh sofa hamara hua aap soch lijiye kaha sona hai " with a smirk on his face.

'Silly' I said in my mind and lied down on the bed.

Just then he said, "Aapke papa ka call aaya tha hume,he said kal puja hai aapke ghar pe jisme humdono ko sath baithna hai".

I replied,"Yes mummy told me about it, I forgot to ask you whether we'll go there or not".

"Ofcourse we will!",he exclaimed then continued,"So jaiye subhe uthna hai phir".

"Okay", I replied and soon shifted to my dreamland.
