48. Ishaani

We were standing outside the ICU. When we reached here, the doctor said that Annu needs to be admitted.

We were able to hear her screams even outside.
Arjun was sitting beside me and I was trying to calm him down. I could see his eyes were moist.

"Bhabhi, kitna chilla Rahi wo, I cannot see her like this", Arjun said.

"Kuch der aur bass", I tried to pacify him.

Arhaan was standing beside me.
After almost 30 minutes,the screams of Annu turned into cries of a baby.

We became happy and got up. The doctor opened the door and we rushed towards her.

"Congrats, it's a girl", she said and we congratulated each other.

"Mother and daughter both are in a good state".."only father can go inside right now, rest everyone can wait here, the baby will be handed over to you after checking her vitals".

We thanked her and she left.
Arjun went inside and I hugged Arhaan tightly.
Drops of tears fell down from my eyes.

We sat on the chair and locked our hands.
"Congratulations badimummy",he said with a smile on his face.

"Congratulations to you too badepapa", I said and pulled his cheeks.

We laughed.
"Jeevika ek baat kahun?",he asked.

"Kahiye na".

"Itna dard hota hai, we men should salute you guys, we're nothing infront of women".

I smiled.

Door opened infront of us and a nurse came outside with baby in her hands.
She forwarded the baby to maa but instead maa signalled her towards me and said, "pehle ussey God me do beta, badimaa hai woh".

I smiled and stepped forward. I took the baby carefully in my arms.

I just took a moment to adore her beauty.

She was so small. Milky white. Chubby and rosy cheeks. Her nose looked just like her father's and eyes like her mother.

I sat down on the chair with her on my lap.

Then everyone took her in their arms one by one.
Nurse informed us that we can meet the mother now. We went inside and saw Annu resting on the bed.

Arjun was holding her hand and sitting beside her.

"How are you feeling now?", I asked and she just nodded her head in response.

"Babuu..",she said slowly.

I helped her to lift her body up slightly and maa handed over the baby to her.

Her eyes had a different shine after holding her baby in her arms.

"Awww kitni cute hai", Arjun exclaimed.

"Yess, our baby", Annu said.

"She has her nose like me, see",Arjun said.

"And eyes like me", Annu said.

Annu kissed the baby on her forehead.

"Lakshmi aayi hai beta, khushiya hi khushiya aaengi ab Ghar mein", papa said.

"Haan, hamare Ghar ki raunak", maa said.

"What should we name her?", Arjun asked.

"Haan betaa,koi naam socha hai tumne?",maa asked from Annu.

She shook her head.

Annu and Arjun,both of them snapped their eyes towards me together.

Then they both saw each. Again they gazed their eyes on me.

Annu spoke,"Bhabhi naam rakhengi hamari beti ka".

I looked at them with wide eyes and said,"me.. ?".

"Yes you bhabhi, you are her badimumma and we want you to keep her name",Arjun said.

I looked towards Arhaan and he nodded his head.
I thought for few minutes and then said,"As she is born in the holy month of navratri, her name will be 'Ishaani'- a name of Goddess Durga".

"Ishaani", everyone said in union.

"Wow bhabhi, this name is so good", Arjun said.

"Yes, our Ishaani", she said and kissed on her hand.

We left from there after few minutes so that Ishaani and Annu could take some rest.

At night I and Arjun were going to stay at hospital.

I let Annu sleep peacefully and I slept along with baby. She woke up twice at night but then slept again after few minutes.

The next day, Annu got discharged and we were allowed to take both of them along with us.

While Arhaan and I were resting at night alone, Arhaan said,"I think we should talk about that after Ishaani's chatthi? What do you think?".

"Yes".

"Tomorrow is the first day of Navratri.
I know you'll fast even though I say you not to, but please take care of yourself,okayy?".

"Yes".

We slept.
