Julia's POV

"I think I need some yellow here. Mmm no maybe some green?" I was trying to figure out what color to put here to make the background of the painting look nice, and I just could not find the right color. I was trying to paint a portrait of me and Lily together to make up for the other painting that she didn't really like. I thought that, that painting would help her remember good memories. Guess not. "Yeah, let's go with green." I mixed in the green and it made the back round look a lot better. "Julia!" It was my mom. "Yeah?!?" I waited but I got no response. "Julia!" I swear she's deaf sometimes. I put my brush down, cleaned off my hands, and went downstairs. "Yeah mom, what's up?" She looked up from washing the dishes and held out my phone. "You have one missed call from Lily and five from Elizabeth. Call them back to make sure everything is okay." Six missed calls? I always answer my phone. Why did I decide to leave it down here? "Okay, will do." I grabbed my phone and started heading up the stairs. "Dinner will be ready in 15 minutes!" "Okay!" I went into my room and shut the door. My arm hurt from painting for so long so I decided to take a break. I called Lily back but it went straight to voicemail. Weird. I tried again. Same thing. I called Elizabeth and she picked up after the first ring. "Hey Elizabeth, what's up?"

I raced to grab my coat and rushed out the front door. My mom called after me. "Hey where are you going?!?!" I didn't say anything I rushed down the sidewalk all the way to the police station. I was crying. How could I not? My best friend had been kidnapped. A few people were staring at me like I was crazy, which isn't very New York like. A lady saw me and stopped me. "Hey, are you okay?" I tried to run past her, but she wouldn't let me. She probably wanted to see if I was okay or not. "Yeah I'm fine." She looked at me weird. I forgot that I was crying. I 100% looked like I was not okay. "You don't look fine to me." I was getting very upset at this point. "Look, just let me be. I need to get somewhere and it's very important." Did that sound harsh? I didn't mean for it to be. "Maybe I could give you a ride?" No. I'm not hopping in a strangers car. No way. "No thanks, now if you excuse me I have to go." I took off again and she watched me leave. After many confused looks and stares later, I finally got to the police station. I could have called them, but I was too much inside my head, and I wanted to get out of my house. I burst through the door, and a lady sitting at a desk looked up at me. "Hi, are you okay? What happened?" It took me a moment to collect my thoughts. "My friend was kidnapped," I was breathing to heavily that I could barely speak. Man, I am really out of shape. "What's her name, and have you heard anything from her?" The lady opened something on her computer and looked at me for answers. "Her name is Lily Pytel, and I got a phone call from my..." I didn't know what to call Elizabeth. "Friend. She told me that Lily had called her but someone took the phone away." She took notes as I spoke. "Anything else?" I tried to remember if there was anything else but I don't think there is. "No." She picked up her phone and called someone. "Yes, Hello. A girl was kidnapped. Name is Lily Pytel." She stopped talking at just started nodding every once in a while. Is that what we really do when we are on phone calls? It looks funny. She took the phone away from her ear and whispered to me. "What's her age?" "13." I whispered back. "13." She said into the phone. She listened for a while then put the phone down. "Police are on the hunt for her right now. Do you have any suspects?" I couldn't think of anybody but.... "Her parents. They haven't been the best towards her, and ever since Lily ran away from them, things haven't been good." She nodded at typed that in to her computer. "Okay. What's your name?" "Julia Gatlin." She took more notes on her computer. "Okay Julia, you're free to go and we will call you if we find anything." I nodded and left the building. Half of me felt relieved and the other half felt empty. I wanted to help but I knew I couldn't. Wait, maybe I could. I know where her parents live. If it was them then I could search their house and hopefully find Lily. A spark of hope lit up inside of me and I ran all the way to Elizabeth's apartment. My hair flying in the wind. Legs sore from the run earlier. I didn't stop though. Wasn't going to. I almost got hit by a car crossing the street and they honked at me but I didn't care. I just kept on running. The sun was going down and soon stars would start to fill the sky and the moon would appear. I loved the moon. It made me feel happy. It was always a friend that would show up every night and comfort me. The stars are beautiful too. The way they make the night sky brighter and less boring. I think of that whenever I'm painting. Fill the canvas with colors, like the stars fill the sky. I snapped out of my starry day dream when I crashed into something. It felt like the world had just punched me in the face. I hit the floor and everything went black.

I realized I hadn't been doing Julia's POV for a while so I decided to write a whole chapter just with her POV. I don't know if this book is that good anymore, so I may take a break. Now that I'm thinking about it that would be kind of evil since I left you guys on a cliff hanger. We'll see.
