Julia's POV"Come in"
Lily pushed open the door and went into the room while I waited outside. I didn't want to disturb them so I sat down against the wall and texted my parents that I may be home a little later then I told them I would. I watched the people pass through the halls as I listened to the muffled conversation coming from the other side of the door. I wonder how many celling tiles I can count. Okay, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5....
121, 122, 123, 124-
"Hey" I looked up and I saw Lily with a smile on her face. I jumped back onto my feet as she closed the door behind her and started walking back towards where we came from. "So, I'm guessing it went well?" I questioned as I tried to keep up with her. She turned her head to look at me. "Yeah, she's gonna come over to my place tomorrow to meet my parents." I felt my smile drop. I don't like that idea. "Are you sure that's a good idea? I mean, you two just became friends again and I don't think your parents are going to like that." She rolled her eyes at me and held an annoyed expression on her face. "Okay, 1, we were never not friends, okay? And 2, I already told my parents and they're fine with it. You think I wouldn't have asked them first?" She raised her voice as she kept rambling on and on about how stupid I was. I just looked down at the ground and kept mumbling 'sorry' after everything she said. Eventually, she stopped and we continued walking in an awkward silence. I could feel the tears rising in my eyes. We eventually reached the door we came in through and Lily held it open for me. "Look, I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me. I guess I'm just a bit stressed out with everything that's happened." I smiled at her. "I forgive you." She smiled back and closed the door behind us.
*Time Skip To The Next Morning Because I'm Lazy*
Lily's POV
"Morning mom, morning dad." I said as I came down the stairs. My dad turned away from the coffee pot. "Good morning Lily!" I smiled at him and took a seat on the couch. My mom turned her head over to me. "Lily, when is your friend getting here?" I turned to look at her. "She should be here any minute now." As soon as I finished saying that the doorbell rang. I sprang off the couch and ran over to the door. "Hey." I said as I threw open the door. "Hi." I gestured for her to come inside and shut the door behind her. We walked into the kitchen and found my parents at the table. "Mom, Dad, this is Elizabeth." My parents stood up and walked over towards us. "How nice it is to finally meet you." My mom said as she smiled. My dad said a quick hello and shook her hand. We all moved over to the couch and sat down. My mom spoke up first. "Lily has yet to give us much information about you. Could I just ask you a few simple questions?"
Elizabeth's POV
I awkwardly shifted. The way she worded that question sounds like she's planning to interrogate me. I put on a smile. "Sure." She looked me dead in the eyes and I got creeped out. "What do you do for work?" I always hate when people ask me this question because I don't like to brag about myself. "Well, right now I'm in a show on Broadway and I'm also a singer." Lily's dad nodded his head and her mom looked disapproving. "So when Lily told me that she wanted to go see her friend preform the other night, that was you?" She raised her eyebrow. "Yes." There was so much awkward tension in this room. I knew this was a bad idea but Lily wanted me to come here, so I did. I fidgeted with my fingers as she stared into my soul. "And when Lily was living with you, did you take care of her?" I was about to open my mouth but Lily interrupted me. "She did mom. She fed me and made sure I was comfortable while living there. She even has this cat named Henry who does a lot of stupid stuff but is so cute that you can't even be mad at him." I smiled as I remembered the first time that Lily met Henry. Him in the garbage can. She asked a few more questions and then let me take a tour around the house. It was nice. It smelled of cleaning products, so I knew that they had probably done a deep clean before I got here. There were a bunch of family photos on the walls, all neatly in a row. I looked at my phone and saw that it was 1:26. Shit I have a matinee today. I said my goodbyes and then went to go find the nearest subway station.
Lily's POV
Well, I think that went great. My parents seemed to like Elizabeth, so that's good. "Lily!" I heard my dad yell through the wall. I made my way over to the next room. "I have a question for you." My mom stated. "Did you like living with Elizabeth more than you like living with us?" I stared at her for a moment. This was a random question. "I mean, living with Elizabeth was great and I had so much fun, but you guys are my parents and I love you." I said cautiously. My mom had a look of satisfaction on her face. "Alright, as long as we are your number one choice." I walked back to my room. She and my dad have been acting a little clingy lately. It's probably because they're just happy to have me back. Safe and sound.
