The day before the engagement
Author's POV:
The days passed normally...The arrangements were being done at Kriti's home. But, Kabir and Kriti were not in contact.
It was finally the day before their engagement. Kriti was very nervous whereas Kabir was too busy to even think about it.
Kriti and Kabir had to take a leave because their parents forced them to.
Kriti's POV:
Can't believe I'll be engaged to someone who I don't love. I haven't talked to him since that night. And I don't even want to.
Tomorrow we'll have to face each other....Woww!
I called Nia and she said she won't be here for the engagement but she will make it up for the wedding. I was sad, I will have other friends of mine here but not her.
I sighed and went to my mom. She was in the terrace watering the plants. I went and sat on a chair.
She turned to look at me and smiled. I just looked at the flower and got lost. Mumma came and sat beside me.
"The times passes so swiftly, hai na?" She said looking at me. I looked at her and nodded.
"Mumma, how did you fall in love with papa?" I asked to which she chuckled.
"What's with this sudden question?" She asked.
"No, I just wanted to know." I replied and shrugged.
"Let me reveal you a secret." She said and I got interested.
"I was 20 when I married your dad. I was doing my college back then. I had never seen your dad before. One day, when I came back from the college, my parents called me and told me to get married. They threatened me saying they would drop me out of college if I rejected. I always wanted to become a teacher so I didn't want to stop my study." She said and I listened to her carefully.
She chuckled taking a pause and continued.
"My parents and your papa's parents arranged a meet in our house. I just met him once and they fixed our marriage. Marrying to a stranger was not what I wanted. I thought your papa would not be the man I wanted. I thought he would force me to stop my studies and become a housewife but It was completely opposite. We didn't talk for weeks after marriage but he would always drop me to my college and pick me up.
"He was educated and he helped me with my studies. Whenever I had exams he would do all the household chores so that my studies wouldn't hamper. Slowly, I started liking him. His parents didn't like me studying and thought I was making their son work. But he argued with his parents and didn't stop supporting me. After my study, I wanted to have a family of my own. Then, You were born, and after you turned 4 I started teaching. And after Aarav was born, I taught for 10 more years and left. I wanted to look after my family.'
"This wouldn't have been possible without your papa. See, we were complete strangers to each other yet we fell in love. It was totally unexpected." She concluded.
'Will that ever be my case? Will we ever give chance to each other?' I thought.
Kabir's POV:
Tomorrow's the engagement date. We haven't talked after that night. I know I shouldn't have shouted but my mind was so occupied and it wasn't in my control.
It's all because of 'her'. I know she won't let me live in peace. She did come to my office but I strictly told my staffs not to let her in. She called me almost 20 times a day but I just blocked her number.
