Chapter 21

Adhya POV:

-A day before the board meeting-

I was working on my new book when I got a call from Sid bhai. He sounded concerned as he said, "Di, something is wrong in the company, and Abhi bhai is stressed out." My heart skipped a beat, and I immediately asked, "Bhai, tell me what exactly happened." He went on to narrate the meeting with the secretary and the financial department's mess. I felt a growing sense of unease but tried to stay calm as I reassured him, "Bhai, I will take care of it. Don't worry."

After ending the call, I made my way to Papa's office where he was engrossed in some work. As I entered, he greeted me with a warm smile, "Oh, princess, what brings you here?" I wasted no time and got straight to the point, "Papa, when Sunandha stole some of the company's project files, did you suspect anyone?" He furrowed his brow, contemplating for a moment, and then replied, "No, princess."

I sighed, the urgency of the situation weighing on my shoulders, and I pressed further, "Papa, do you have any clues? It's really important." He revealed something that caught me by surprise, "She had a lover in the company." My eyes widened in disbelief, "A lover? Who, Papa?"

He hesitated briefly before sharing the truth, "It was Ram. Despite being ten years older than her, they secretly dated. But dad didn't approve of their relationship, and they eventually broke up. She went on to marry the man dad had chosen." Realization dawned on me as I connected the dots, and I said, "Then he is the one, Papa.

Puzzled, he asked, "What do you mean, princess?" I smiled and reassured him, "Don't worry about tomorrow's meeting papa. I know what to do." A sly smirk crept onto my face as my dad entered the room, seeing the smirk on my face, he playfully said, "Oh no, by the look on your face someone is going to suffer."

I gave him a playful push and replied, "Baba, come with me. We need to go somewhere else." Papa insisted, "I'll also come with you." I lovingly told him, "No, Papa, you need to rest. You're not feeling well." My dad then requested, "Give me ten minutes, princess. I'll be ready." With that, I left for the kitchen to drink some water.

In the kitchen, I found Priya maa cooking, and I decided to ask her if she knew anything about Sunandha. I approached her and inquired, "Priya maa, do you know anything about Sunandha?" She shook her head and explained, "Your mother was the only other person close to Sunandha other than Meera di."

I was taken aback by her words and asked, "What do you mean?" She continued, "I was shocked by what she did, but your mom doesn't know about Sunandha's actions. She was in her parents' home at that time because she was carrying you." My heart softened, realizing that despite my mother's sternness, she had never harmed anyone and had treated Abhi as her own son.

As I was about to leave the kitchen, Priya maa called me back and said, "Princess, there was a maid who worked in this house until Sunandha left. Maybe she may know something." I nodded in gratitude and replied, "Thank you, Choti Maa. I will look into it." With that, I left the kitchen, thinking that the maid might be of help, though probably not in office matters. I decided to consider this lead later.

I, accompanied by my dad, then went to the old alley where Sunandha used to live. My dad looked perplexed and asked, "Why did you bring me here?" I explained, "This is where Sunandha lived." He wore a serious expression and inquired, "What are we doing here, Princess?"

I replied, "Papa, we need evidence. There's a board meeting tomorrow." He nodded and said, "Prem mentioned this to me. So, what are you going to do about it?" A sly smirk crossed my face, and I said, "Wait and watch."

Not long after, an expensive car arrived, and Mr. Ram got out of it. I smirked because I had expected him to come. My dad patted my head and commented, "You really are scary when you do things like this, Princess." I chuckled and said, "Baba, stay here. I will be back soon."
