Do you ever wonder how peculiar it is that the weather can affect your mood? The hold that mother nature has on our bodies is absolutely crazy.

This morning when I woke up and looked out my bedroom window all I saw were small droplets of water hitting the asphalt. I thought the rain would stop once I arrived at school but to my dismay it did not. I had a small hunch that mother nature was going to curse us all day with this never ending precipitation.

"Well this rain sucks," I sighed. I hung up my jacket in my locker along with my small yellow umbrella.

"You're the one telling me. I forgot my umbrella," Layla whined. I chuckled and shook my head at her wet jacket.

I retorted, "Well that's on you Lay."

"Thanks captain obvious," she muttered. We both looked at each other and giggled.

I grabbed all of my English literature material and stuffed it inside my backpack then proceeded to close my locker. A couple of seconds later Layla did the same as I slung my bag on my shoulders.

I felt a buzz in my jeans pocket and pulled out my phone.

Josh: hey are you two still at your lockers?

Me: yes

"Who was that?" Layla questioned.

I grinned, "Who do you think?"

"Josh," we both answered in unison.

She stepped next to me and nudged my side with her elbow.

"So what did he want?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrows.

I pushed her back, gently, causing her to form a dramatic expression on her face.

Layla is and always will be over dramatic. If we had a drama club at Spring Ridge I'm sure she would sign herself up.

"He wanted to know if we were still at our lockers."

She cocked an eyebrow and asked, "Why?"

"I don't know," I shrugged.

"Well I guess you can ask him now," she stated. She pointed at Josh who was walking towards me with Noah in tow.

"Hey ladies," he greeted.

"Hi, so what's up?" I quizzed.

"Well we wanted to know what the outcome was for Layla," he responded. Layla and I glanced at each other confused.

She questioned, "We?"

"Yeah, me and Noah," Josh clarified pointing between the two of them.

Layla peered at me and then over at the tall guy who was a stranger to her.

"I'm going to presume that you're Noah."

"Yes," he smiled, "It's nice to finally meet you Layla."

She leaned into my side and whispered, "How does he know me?"

I whispered, "Apparently Josh talks about us to his friends all the time."

"Shocker," she rolled her eyes and giggled.

"So?" Josh held his hands out in suspense.

"They're hanging out this evening," I replied.

Layla slapped my shoulder and I slapped her back as she glared at me.

"Tara," she scoffed.

"What? You can spill my juicy life to other people, but I can't spill yours?"

She sighed, "Fine."
