Freen's POV
I've been abroad for two days, but not for business. I needed to visit the elders, seeking their counsel on matters of the heart and the throne. They urged me to mark my mate, Becky, a ritual claiming her as mine, strengthening our vampire bond and granting us power.
The elders warned me of an impending war between royal vampires, ambitious bloodsuckers seeking to dominate the world and threaten our reign. According to prophecy, the fifth generation of our family will wield unparalleled power once they've marked their mate. As the youngest of that generation and a powerful royal vampire, I'm next in line for the throne.
My father, the king, expects me to inherit, but only if I've marked my mate. My brother Edward, once the heir, lost his claim due to his mate not granting him sufficient power. Now, the fate of our vampire empire rests on my shoulders.
I must mark Becky, but she's still young and innocent. News of our bond spreads quickly, and the elders don't care about her age or gender. They demand I secure my claim to ensure our dynasty's future.
Lost in thought, I arrived at the mansion, eager to see Becky's bright smile. Her absence surprised me, but I found a book on her nightstand, "Soulmate." A smirk formed on my lips; my little one is curious about our world.
I decided to surprise her at school, eager to reconnect. As I arrived, everyone greeted me, some with flirtatious gazes, but I ignored them, focused on Becky. Kade, her teacher, approached me.
"Hey, Freen! Welcome back. Your mate is remarkable, smart and beautiful. You're lucky!" Kade's genuine warmth made me smile.
I smirked, proud of Becky's intelligence and beauty. Kade's expression turned serious.
"Mark her soon, Freen. Many vampires seek to claim her, threatening her life."
I knew this, but hearing it from Kade reinforced my resolve. The elders set a date for me to claim Becky, but how could I hurt my innocent mate?
As Becky's class ended, she blushed at my presence. I smiled, gathered her belongings, and helped her carry them.
"Why did you come? You should rest, Master," she said, her concern touching my heart.
"I missed you," I whispered, making her blush deeper. I patted her hair, guiding her out of the school.
"I brought gifts from abroad. You might like them." Her eyes sparkled, and I vowed to keep her smiling.
We strolled through the streets, enjoying the evening breeze. I handed her a small box.
"A gift from Paris," I said, watching her eyes light up.
She opened the box, revealing a beautiful silver necklace. "It's lovely, Master!"
I smiled, pleased she liked it. "Call me Freen, my love."
Becky's cheeks flushed, and I knew I'd made her happy.
