Chapter 38 Where is Zenko?

Where could he have gone? He knew I was coming right back!

"Emi, where did Zenko go?" One of the girls asked, tugging on my dress.

I put on a smile

"She's probably just playing with us! Let's go try and find her. She's really good at hiding so make sure to be sure that she's not in a room before you leave it okay?" I tell the three girls.

Crap. What should I do? I know that Zenitsu probably got taken away by that demon while I was gone, probably because he irritated her a bit ago, but there's no trace of him whatsoever. It's like he didn't exist to begin with. Hopefully he's still alive somehow. if he is, I think I have no more than a day to find him.

After looking around for him for a while and not being able to find him, the girls started to worry.

"What happened to Zenko? Is she okay?" They started to cry.

"Don't worry. Maybe she's just outside shopping. I'll ask the master if he saw her." I say. I go over to the master of the house's room.

"Master, have you seen Zenko, the new girl? We haven't been able to find her and it's starting to worry us."

"What do I care? She probably left so it's none of our business. Just forget it." He said

"Master-"

He threw something at me.

"Shut the hell up. Dismissed. Don't ever mention Zenko's name again. Tell the others not to either." He said

I get it now. When Zenitsu used the falling technique to stop himself from getting injured, the demon probably took note of that. Since she knew that he was a demon slayer that was after her, since he was new, she was able to silently take him out. The only person that would have cared is... me. I'm next.

I was able to get out of the house during the day to go to the meeting that Zenitsu was talking about. Zenitsu was scheduled to have a meeting with Tanjiro, Inosuke and Uzui to catch up on their houses.

"Zenitsu and Mr. Uzui should be showing up soon-" Tanjiro started to explain to Inosuke.

"No he wont." I said. They both looked at me with shock.

"Y/n! You're alright!" Tanjiro exclaimed excitedly

"Zenitsu is gone." I continued, "The demon at my house took him. It took Hinatsuru too."

"I feel bad now about putting you all through this. You three should leave now. You're ranked too low for this." Tengen said. I didn't even notice him show up until he started speaking. "I'm continuing on my own."

"I don't care if I die, Uzui. I'm not leaving. I've come this far and I can't rest easy until we find Zenitsu, dead or alive." I say.

"Don't be stubborn like you always are." Tengen said, "Take this chance and get out." Then Uzui disappeared.

"Get back here old man!" Inosuke screams

"Okay," Tanjiro says after a while, "Since both Inosuke and you are saying that there are demons at your houses, I'll head over to Inosuke's house first and then we'll go to your house, y/n , okay?"

"Fine by me." I go back to my house to look for Zenitsu. When I left, I heard Inosuke yelling at Tanjiro.

I had to go find Oiran! I need to engage in battle while I still have Tanjiro, Inosuke and Uzui. Soon enough, we might all be gone. I looked around the house for the oiran but I realized that now she's missing too! Is it possible that she wasn't a demon? There's no way! I continue trying to find her when I hear something under the floorboards. It sounded like Inosuke. I rip up the boards to see a passage. I get it now. That's how Inosuke and I both had a demon in our house. I had a passage to get from house to house but the passage was so small. It was only big enough to fit my head.
