Chapter 41 A Happy but Painful Death

Somehow, I woke up. The battle was still going on. Uzui wasn't dead. Tanjiro was still on his feet and Zenitsu was still zooming in the air. I still couldn't see out of my left eye but I could move. Inosuke was nowhere to be found. I have to defeat this demon now. I now understand why Tanjiro was pushing himself this whole battle, even though he was on the verge of death. It's because, not only do you want to protect your loved ones, or live a life you want to be proud of. It's because everything that we worked so hard to accomplish would be thrown away right in front of us if we don't defeat them and that thought is unbearable.

I've got to do this, and not only finish what I started, but finish what Inosuke started too. Even though Inosuke would fight with me nonstop, he really reminded me of my younger brother. I found that comforting. Makoto was reckless and got himself into trouble a lot and he was even a little mischievous but he had a kind innocent heart like Inosuke. When I always have to explain things to Inosuke, it reminds me of when I used to have to explain things to Makoto and it secretly made me happy.

I shot up and ran into a battle against Gyutaro with Tanjiro and Uzui. Uzui finally found out the demon's musical score and I was barely starting to catch on as well.

"I can read it now!" Uzui screamed. "That filthy musical score of yours!"

They started to run around, making Tanjiro unable to keep up. Uzui can't behead him the way he's fighting and neither can I. I have to slow them down somehow. Tanjiro is the only one who can do this. He's the only one with enough determination. I catch up with them and use the dip in my sword to grip onto the demon's leg, slowing him down a lot but I could keep up forever either, making me slip and fall, still holding onto the sword. I can't let go now. I know I'm being brutally dragged across the dirt but I can't stop now! I watched as Uzui got blinded by Gyutaro as well, right across his eyeball. As they were running, I was dragged into a plank of wood so hard that it started to impale me through my stomach. If it's piercing any of my organs right now, I'm gonna die in seconds, not to mention that I can barely breath already because of the poison.

Gyutaro stabs Tanjiro through the jaw as he tries to behead him. The plank of wood was piercing me more and more until I was completely run through. Tanjiro held his blade against the demon's neck and sliced it clean off.

At this point, I was sure Tanjiro and I were going to die. Honestly I looked down at myself and I looked just like Rengoku before he died with my eye and my stomach looking like that. Then I felt the ground start to shake. Uzui grabbed me.

"Kamado! Get up!" Tengen screamed, Tanjiro and I were gasping for air. We could hardly breathe because of the poison. "Run! He's not done yet! You gotta run!"

The demon's headless body then exploded, creating a bunch of damage to the whole district. The entire floor crumbled. Did Zenitsu not cut the other demon's head off at the same time or something. No.... I know he did..... I can feel it... what's happening?

When the explosions were over, it was so quiet and peaceful. I lost Uzui and Tanjiro in the explosion so I was all alone. Don't go to sleep. Don't go to sleep! Combat the poison. Don't let them win.

"TAAAAAAAANNNNJJJJIIIRRROOOOO" I heard Zenitsu scream, "YYYYY/NNNNN CHAAAAAAAAAANNN! Where are YYYYOOOOOOOUUUUUU????!!!!"

Good, Zenitsu is safe. Now... if I die.... I can rest easily. Thank whoever's out there. Thank you for saving Zenitsu.

(Zenitsu's Perspective)

When Tanjiro and Nezuko showed up I was relieved. I could barely move but I was okay. I was just sore and I had some bad cuts. Inosuke was able to help me behead the girl demon, even though he got stabbed through the heart, but he's almost dead now because of the poison. Apparently, Nezuko's fire power is also able to burn away the poison so she went up to Inosuke and saved him and Tanjiro and even Uzui but we still didn't find y/n chan and it was starting to scare me. I knew that if y/n was conscious, she would try to find me, no matter how hurt she was.

I forced myself to stand up and look for her. Tanjiro and Nezuko went to go look for the demon's heads to make sure they're dead but they'd be back at any moment at this point since they've been gone for a while.

"Yyyy/nnn!? Where are you!? You're scaring me!"

Then, I heard the softest breathing coming from next to a pile of rubble.

It was y/n. She was about to die from the poison and she was completely run through by a plank of wood.

"GUYS I FOUND HER! SHE NEEDS HELP NOW" I yelled, "it's okay y/n chan! You're gonna live! You can't die!"

She weakly smiled at me and tried to raise her hand to touch my face but she didn't have enough strength. I grab her hand and put it against my face for her.

"I'm so glad you're alright. I'm sorry you have to see me like this." She said

Her hand was ice cold.

"It's okay y/n! The way the wood went through, there's a way that it could have avoided your organs! Maybe with surgery, you can live!" I assure her.

I take off my haori to try and stop the bleeding. She winces in the pain.

"I'm so sorry. I'm so so sorry." I said, applying more pressure.

Nezuko came over and stopped the poison, but she still seemed like she was about to die.

"It's no use Zen." She said, "Unless a miracle happens, I'm going to die, but don't let that discourage you okay? You make all of my tears dry up Zen. You make me so happy. If I die, I want you to find love again, okay? You deserve someone so much better than me. I'm so lucky. I never thought that I would have such a happy but painful death."

I start sobbing. "Y/n, don't say stuff like that! You're going to survive this!"

She sadly smiles again. I lay on her shoulder. She starts softly singing to me, like I did that one night. I tried not to sob over it, but I couldn't. She looks over at me.

"You're so handsome, Zen. If only I could see you better." She giggled, she tried to cup my face with her hands. I helped her. She leaned her forehead against mine.

"Though I'm pretty sure I will die," She continued, "I will fight till the very end. I will fight for every moment with you okay?"

I tried not to get snot on her from all my crying.

"If you survive, and we beat Muzan, will you please marry me?" I asked

She gave me the biggest smile and nodded her head. "Of course I will." Her voice got quieter by the second, "That would be a dream come true." her eyes started to close.

"No y/n! Don't let yourself go to sleep yet! I think I hear the kakushi! They'll take you back to the butterfly mansion!" I tightly held my haori against her. , "And you'll get better, and we'll defeat Muzan and then we'll get married!" She weakly smiled as she fought to stay awake.

"Stop that y/n! You gotta fight just a little longer!" I said while shaking her. She was so pale.

When the kakushi found us, her heart was somehow still beating, even with all the blood loss. They had no idea how they were going to transport her back to the mansion. They didn't even know if she could survive the trip. They ended up having to have two people take her arms and carry her like that. The bleeding mostly stopped at that point but I don't think she had much blood left. I could barely walk, so they made me get in a sling for the walk back but I made them carry me next to y/n the whole way.
