A couple days later, Zenitsu, Tanjiro and I were healed enough to go and move onto the Stone hashira, Gyomei Himejima's training. I was excited to finally be on the last hashira and get to hang out with Inosuke and Murata during training. I heard Hiro and Makoto, some of the people I met on a mission, are there too. Sadly, Riku, Hikaru and Yoshi quit hashira training, since hashira training is not forced. It is just guaranteed to make you stronger. I'm not surprised that Hikaru quit but Riku and Yoshi? Riku was banned from hanging out with me by the master after the incident so I think he quit quickly after that. Yoshi decided to quit after he reached Iguro's training since he was being brutally bullied by Obanai. I think Hiro was a little glad about that. He really cared about Yoshi.
We started to make our way to Gyomei's mansion. It was the farthest mansion out of all of them. It was all the way up a mountain. I was talking with Tanjiro and Zenitsu as we were hiking up this mountain as Tanjiro started to carry on about a couple days prior when he fought the wind hashira.
"It was a big mess..... The fight lasted until nearly noon and now I'm banned from seeing Mr. Shinazugawa ever again. I was also unable to smooth things over with the Shinazugawa brothers. I didn't mean for this to happen. The mark isn't clear and training isn't bearing fruit ...."
"Actually, it is." Zenitsu said, slightly serious for one reason or another, "You fought the wind hashira. That's incredible."
"Oh really?"
"Of course!" I chime in, "That's a serious thing. It might have been messy but it's good training at least! You held up against him nicely too!"
"ANYWAY, WHY IS THIS MANSION SO DEEP IN THE MOUNTAINS!? HOW STUPID IS THIS SOUND HASHIRA TO HAVE HIS HOUSE OUT HERE?!" Zenitsu screamed, getting irritated.
"Don't worry Zenitsu, I think we're almost there now." I said with a smile. I'm used to his screaming at this point.
We then hear splashing in the distance.
"Hey! Look! a waterfall! His mansion has a waterfall! Wait, Someone's there!" Tanjiro screams.
I look in the distance to see this beautiful waterfall with some people standing under it. One of the people was Inosuke! He was shaking like a leaf and chanting this prayer to Buddha as he stood under the waterfall.
"A-and thus.....I have h-heard.....in th-the presence of Buddha...... when in Shravasti at Jetavana Vihara!"
I feel so bad for him. Are we going to have to do that for training?
We all stare in shock when we hear the crackling of a fire behind us and Mr. Himejima speaking. We all turned around to see him, standing barefoot in a fire as he balanced 3 longs on his back with 4 small boulders tied to the longs. I was shaking. How can someone do that?! I'm gonna melt!
"If you extinguish your heart and mind, even fire feels cool." Gyomei said in his normal calm deep voice, "Welcome to my training site."
I immediately started panicking.
"HOW ARE YOU DOING THAT!?" I screamed as Zenitsu immediately started vomiting and crying in the corner. It was a truly terrifying sight.
Gyomei then walked out of the fire as if it was nothing and put back on his haori and took off the logs.
"W-w-we're not going to have to go to that.... Right?" I ask, kind of intimidated. Gyomei I guess didn't hear me because he didn't respond.
"The most important thing is the body's base, the legs and hips. Stabilizing the body with strong legs and hips leads to accurate attacks and solid defense. For my training, first you will train under the waterfall, then carry three logs and lastly, you must push this bolder one cho (for people who don't know what a cho is, it's a Japanese measurement = to 109.1 meters.)"
