5 Months Until Victoria's Death...
The night was young in the small town of Rivervine; the crickets were chirping, and the wind was dancing. Victoria was late to meet Isabella for dinner at their favorite restaurant—or should I say the only restaurant that serves good food in Rivervine? But the time Rivervine's queen takes to get ready is no one's business; after all, she is the prettiest girl in town, and beauty takes time.
"Victoria!" Isabella yells as she beeps outside Victoria's window. "Come on, we are going to be late!" She beeps again, but the queen paid her no attention. She was listening to The 1975 at the highest volume and couldn't hear the sound of anything.
But the secret that no one knows, even Isabella, Victoria's so-called best friend, doesn't know that Victoria has the volume so high because her parents are too busy arguing downstairs and throwing things at each other. I guess everyone has secrets, even those you expect the least.
As Victoria is busy getting ready, Isabella's phone rings, and to her surprise, it's Damian, her step-brother—or lover, should I say. "Hey," he says as he takes a deep breath, "We need to talk right now."
Isabella doesn't flinch at his urgency and continues to do her makeup in the car like an unbothered princess. "We have nothing to talk-" she tries to say before Damian's response silences her and stops her makeup session that's clearly been going on for too long anyway. "She knows about us," Damian spits.
His words come as quite a shock to Isabella, so much so that she drives off and doesn't look back to see if Victoria ever left her house or not. But we all know she didn't; Victoria's bitchy attitude probably made her forget that she was going out with Isabella anyway, and when she left the house and saw that there was no one there.
Well, she didn't care at all. Victoria got in a cab and went to the restaurant anyway because she thought that Isabella might have gotten impatient and decided to meet her there without informing her, but to her surprise, she was completely wrong.

After arriving at The Perch, the only restaurant in Rivervine, Victoria didn't find anyone waiting for her but an empty bar with a man sitting all alone wearing a black suit and sweatpants darker than Victoria's wretched soul.
"Care for a drink?" She goes up to the man, and to her surprise, it's her beautiful crush that rejected her, Samuel. He turned to look at her and smiled at her view. "Not from you, thanks," he giggled, "What brings the queen of Rivervine here anyway?" He adds in his sarcastic tone, a tone Victoria weirdly found very hot and attractive.
"Well," she slides into the chair next to him, "The queen has been stood up by her best friend apparently." She adds as she looks around, hoping for a sign that Isabella might show up so she can kill her.
Samuel passes his drink to her. "A little overdressed, don't you think love?" Victoria was wearing a gray crop-top with tight black jeans. Nothing too infuriating, but simple and cute, which is exactly the opposite of what lies underneath.
"Well," she takes a sip from his drink, "I am the queen, as you said; what you people call overdressing, I call comfy clothes." She smiles. "I don't buy it, you know," Samuel takes his drink back, "I don't buy this bitchy personality."
Victoria laughs at his comment, "Well, I'm not trying to sell it." She taps on the bar and orders a drink for herself, "You know," he turns to face his chair towards her, "As a queen, don't you think starting every sentence with 'well' is, you know, a sign of bad communication?" He takes a sip of his drink.
