Lydia Martin came from a smart family, but she always felt like the let down in the family. Her father is a genius doctor at the Beacon City hospital, her mother is one of the best lawyers in California, and her brother is a forensic scientist at the Beacon City Police Department. Everyone else in her family were geniuses but Lydia, she felt like she could've been smarter or could've done more. Instead, she decided to go to college in journalism. She wanted to write and give people a voice. Becoming a journalist gave her that opportunity. She always felt like her mother or father were disappointed in her, but she knew that her older brother always told her to do whatever made her happy.

Lydia was happy. She was almost finished with senior year in the Beacon City University School of Literature. There was only one more month left of school, and she couldn't wait to graduate and have her internship become an actual job. Everything she wanted was coming true, but it still felt like something in her life was missing. She just didn't know what it was.

An essay slammed on her desk which woke her up from her daze. The time was almost seven thirty in the morning and she had to wake up at five in the morning to get ready for her five thirty class. She originally picked this class thinking it was five thirty in the afternoon. It was a rude awakening when she realized it was a five thirty in the morning class.

"Good job, Lydia." Her teacher, Ms. Jacobs, smiled before walking to another row. Lydia looked at her desk and saw it was the news article she wrote a few weeks ago as part of an assignment that had to use her imagination. Her made up news report had a ninety-five written on it using a purple pen and it was circled. She was pleasantly surprised. Lydia thought she did terrible on the news report.

"Ninety five?" A guy next sitting a seat away from her asks, "How? I got an eighty three. I think you get the highest grades in the class. Everyone else I know in this class usually does bad since Ms. Jacobs is such a strict grader."

"Well, then I guess I should be glad." Lydia shrugged and observed the boy. He looked tired, just like everyone else and had two coffees on his desk then a Monster energy drink under his chair. Lydia stopped herself from laughing and put her news report inside of her purse. She looked back at the boy with black hair and saw him pour part of the energy drink into one of his coffees. This time she let out a small laugh and shook her head. He had to be one of the oddest people she's ever met.

"Okay, class." Ms. Jacobs says and claps her hands together, "The school year is almost over and I am sure you are all very excited, especially those of you who are seniors. But instead of giving you guys a final exam, which would probably kill your grade, I have decided to give you an assignment instead! I want you to write a news report about a current or upcoming event in our city. It can be about anything as long as it has to do with the city. I want it to be as detailed as possible, if any of you guys are going to work for a newspaper or something along those lines then you have to provide as much information as possible and as much detail. The minimum number of words is 2,00 and I want you guys to get an interview with the person who is running or has something to do about the event you are writing about. If that's not possible, then I want you to write about significance of it the event. But, doing both the interview and writing about the significance will give you twenty extra points."

People in class groan, which causes Ms. Jacobs raised her eyebrow, "Maybe I should just give you the exam instead."

Saying that shut everybody up and Ms. Jacobs laughed before dismissing the class. Lydia picked up her bag and put it around her shoulder. She wanted to go home and sleep, but she also wanted to freak out since she had absolutely no clue what to do a news report about. She couldn't mess up this last assignment. Her boss at the internship would be deciding whether or not to hire her later on in the month, so everything she wrote had to be perfect.
