"Wait." Lydia said, "Stiles Stilinski? As in Doctor-"
"Yes. I am his son." Stiles nodded.
"Okay, if you work in the laboratory then why are you in one of my classes in the literature school?" Lydia asked. She really couldn't believe that this Stiles person was the son of one of the greatest scientists. The same kid who poured a Monster energy drink into coffee was the son of a genius. Lydia also wondered what kind of name is Stiles and why someone would even name their kid that.
"Because I do some writing here. This place isn't just about science. It's also about math and writing. I have to do a lot of write ups and things like that to send to other companies and my dad wants to know that I actually know how to write well. I take one class in the literature school. All my other classes are in the science school." Stiles explains and Lydia nodded.
"That makes much more sense."
"I have two questions for you now. First, what is your name? And second, what brings you to the science lab? I thought that the newspaper building or a publishing company would be more of your scene."
Lydia laughed, "Oh yes, it is. My name is Lydia Martin."
"Martin?" Stiles asked, with an excited look on his face. "You're the daughter of Doctor Martin? The Doctor Martin? The one who works right next door."
"Well, I sure hope so because if I'm not then my whole life has been a lie." Lydia replied.
"Your dad is a genius. He is seriously amazing. You're whole family is just insanely smart!"
"Yes, I am aware." Lydia nodded, "Which probably doesn't make much sense in my situation since I'm a journalist while my brother is a forensic scientists, my dad is apparently a genius doctor, and my mom is one of the best lawyers in California. I guess I didn't get as lucky."
"Wait." Stiles says and takes a step towards Lydia, "Did you go to high school with me? I think you were in my literature and math class."
"I probably was."
"You were!" Stiles exclaims, "I remember because you always get the best grades on everything and there was even a rumor going around that you had a GPA that pushed above five point zero!"
"That rumor was true."
"If you're so smart, then why are you in journalism then? You could be a neurosurgeon with a GPA like that."
Lydia shrugged, "I'm the odd one out in the family. It's easier for me to say that I'm not as smart then saying I'm smart and decided to major in journalism."
"You know, journalists are actually smart people. They have to write articles with perfect spelling, grammar, and have to make sure that it doesn't have too much information or too little information. Journalists write and report about the problems with the world and actually give people a voice. The things you write are reported on television and help keep us aware of what's going on in the world we live in. I think that being a journalist is actually pretty cool."
Lydia laughed, "Thank you, but I really need to schedule an appointment to talk to your dad. My dad told me that he's doing something amazing and I would like to write about it."
"Is this for the last assignment?" Stiles questions.
"Yes, but it's also for my internship. My boss is deciding whether or not to hire me and if she finds out that I have ties to things like this, then she'll hire me."
Stiles nods, "Okay. You know what, follow me up to his office. My dad is suppose to get out of a meeting soon, so he'll probably have time right now."
