(Quick question, do you guys like Alex aka Lydia's older brother? Do you want me to include him more in the story?)
The next morning Lydia woke up earlier than usual. At this time, she would probably be angry because of her early class but she actually felt fine and fully rested. She had plenty of time to get ready and kept working on her paper until it was time to leave. The morning was cold for California, but Lydia didn't mind. Sometimes she got tired of having hot weather.
Lydia got to class a few minutes early and took her normal seat in the third row. Stiles arrived a few minutes later and sat next to Lydia. "How's your paper coming along?"
"It's actually pretty good. How's yours?"
"I don't know." Stiles shrugged, "I haven't started."
"Stiles! The paper is due in two days!"
"Yeah I'll start tonight. Or tomorrow night. I'm a scientist, not a writer."
"Aren't you both?"
"You have a point." Stiles said and took a sip from his coffee. "You get that job yet?"
"Got the job yesterday." Lydia said and Stiles smiled.
"Really? That's great! That's really great."
"Would your father mind if I spent more time in the lab. Part of my job at the newspaper is writing about the science lab so I-"
"That's fine." Stiles said, "He won't mind. My dad told me that he wants the word to spread but he'll only accept doing interviews with you since you're the only journalist that doesn't annoy him."
"Hm." Lydia nodded, "Should I be thankful?"
"Very." Stiles nodded then looked at the clock. "Class should've started five minutes ago."
This is what Alex told her. He said that if Ms. Jacobs wasn't there it was because she had something to do with the murder. Everyone waited for her to show up. After half an hour passed, the whole class decided that they should leave. No one wanted to spend their morning waiting for a teacher when they could be sleeping.
"I'll see you later?" Stiles asked as the two walked out of the building.
"Definitely." Lydia nodded before she turned to begin walking down to her apartment but her phone rang and she saw it was Alex. "Do you even sleep?"
"Yes! Well... no- actually sometimes. I got called to work early this morning!"
"Or did you wake up at work early this morning?"
"That does not matter." Alex said, dismissing the subject. "I need you to come to the lab and identify a body."
"Alex!" Lydia yelled, "When you got the job the one thing I told you was to never show me dead bodies!"
"Yes, but this is urgent."
"I don't suppose I should buy you breakfast, should I?" Lydia questioned.
"You know how I like my coffee."
Lydia sighed, "I'll be there in fifteen minutes." She hung up on her brother and shook her head. Sometimes she though that Alex was crazy.
When Lydia arrived Alex didn't even greet her. He just took the coffee and walked away to one his tables. Lydia didn't bother trying to pick a fight with him. She just wanted identify the body and get out as soon as she could.
"Are you ready?" Alex asked.
"Is that a real question?"
Alex nodded, "Okay. I'm just going to show you the face and see if you can recognize the body." Alex gently lifted the blanket off of the person and Lydia screeched before looking back. There was dirt all over the persons face. She saw the familiar look of the blonde curly hair and recognized some of the facial features.
"It's Ms. Jacobs." Lydia said and Alex rushed to cover the body back up. "Oh my god I think I'm going to have nightmares for the rest of my life."
"That was the hardest part. It's over. Trust me, what I have to do is much worse." Alex said and pulled a chair over for Lydia sit in. Alex was right. He always had to deal with dead bodies. Lydia had no clue how he managed to do that.
"How did she die?" Lydia asked.
"The exact same way that Farrah Jameson die. The puncture wounds were in the exact same places. She got carbon monoxide poisoning too. Even got buried in her backyard." Alex said, "Everything was exactly the same."
"But Ms. Jacobs was a college professor. Who would want her dead? All she did was teach college kids." Lydia said.
"I've been asking myself that same question but I haven't been able to find the right answer." Alex said. It sounded like he lost hope in figuring out the case, but Lydia knew that Alex would figure it out. He was good at his job and she knew that he could figure out how to solve this case.

Lydia went back to her apartment to have lunch. She browsed on her laptop and checked her email. There was nothing important until she saw an email from Ms. Jacobs that was sent at midnight. Exactly midnight. Lydia dug through her purse and called Alex.
"Aw sis, do you miss me already?" Alex asked and Lydia laughed.
"You're hilarious. I actually called to see what time Ms. Jacobs died, or when she was pronounced dead?"
Alex takes a few moments to reply and Lydia figured it was probably because he was looking through papers, "At one forty in the morning. Why?"
"I wanted to know if she was killed around the same time that Farrah was. We know that this murder loves patterns." Lydia lied and became surprised on how she came up with a lie in such a short amount of time.
"Good thinking." Alex said, "I have to get back to work now. I'll talk to you later.
"Okay, bye. And thank you." Lydia said before hanging up.
Ms. Jacobs died at one forty in the morning. Lydia got an email from her an hour and forty minutes before she died.
