Dunk woke up feeling heavy in his head. He was not in a familiar place. His eyes slowly adjusted to his surrounding. He realised that he was in a house of a healer.
To Dunk's suprise Joong was sitting in a chair beside his bed. His head was resting on the bed. He looked like he was in a deep sleep.
Dunk's gaze softened as he observed Joong's peaceful slumber. The events from the warehouse echoed in his mind, but the healing ambiance of the healer's house provided a stark contrast.
Careful not to disturb Joong, Dunk tried to sit up, feeling a bit groggy. He gently stroked Joong's hair. A smile crept to his face. Joong woke up feeling Dunk's movements. Dunk took his hand back.
Joong's eyes met Dunk's, a mixture of relief and concern evident in their depth.
"Dunk, you're awake," Joong murmured, his voice a low, soothing rumble. He straightened in the chair and take Dunk's hand in his.
"How are you feeling?" Joong asked stroking Dunk's hand.
"I'm okay. but I feel bit tired."
"That's because of the chemical." The healer entered the room. Dunk looked at him confused.
"Is it the thing Nick injected me?" Dunk asked looking at Joong. Joong noded his head.
"How bad is it?"
The healer didn't said anything. He sighed and looked seriously at the couple. Joong's Dunk's grip on Joong's hand tightened.
"The chemical you were injected is a poison. It is deadly." Dunk's eyes widen after hearing that.
"They injected it to Phuwin too." Both healer and Joong suprised by Dunk. He was in danger but he still thought of others.
"The thing is werewolves are immune to this poison because there is an antidote in their body. Phuwin just need to rest and he will be fine." The healer explained futher.
"But in your case this poison is deadly for vampires. It spreads through your body slowly and it is killing you."
"Isn't there any antidotes we can use?" Joong asked. His voice is filled with concern.
"The only antidote we know is a substance produced in werewolf body." Joong and Dunk looked at each. They didn't understand what the healer was saying.
"can you get it out of my body?" Joong asked but the healer shook his head.
"I'm afraid it doesn't work that way Joong. That substance is in your body but there is only one way to insert it Dunk."
Joong and Dunk watched the healer expecting the worst. Joong hold Dunk's hand tightly.
"Only a mating bite can give the antidote to him." Joong and Dunk's eyes widened with the shock. They were surprised.
"Excuse me to attend other patients." The healer left the room and a heavy silence surrounded the room. None of them dared to talk or raise their head to look at each other.
For their relief Pond and Phuwin came to the room with Joong and Dunk's fathers.
"You are awake bro." Pond came to Dunk and hugged him. Joong let go off Dunk's hand and stood up giving space to others.
Pond and Phuwin talked with Dunk a while and then left leaving Joong and Dunk with their fathers. Joong heaved a heavy sigh before talked to their fathers. Joong explained everything regarding Dunk's condition. Joong and Dunk's fathers looked concerned too.
In a Wolfpack and a vampire clan a mating bite was a big matter. Once you gave someone a mating bite there was no turning back. That person will belong to you for the rest of your life. Joong and Dunk's fathers knew it. As well as Joong and Dunk.
"This is a serious problem. And it also affects your future. We can't force you on this decision. You two should talk about it."
Joong's father said. Joong felt like his heart dropped to the ground. He knew Dunk would not let him mate. He hoped their fathers would pressure Dunk and convince him to take the bite. But now he had to convince Dunk and he has no idea how he was going to do it.After their fathers left the room filled with silence again. But this time Joong didn't let it last long.
"We have to do it." Joong said looking directly at Dunk.
"You don't have to do it Joong. Someone else can do it." Dunk said looking down. He couldn't look at Joong. He felt like he was betraying him.
"What? What do you mean? Who is going to do it? Do you have a lover?" Joong was so confused.
"No Joong. I mean it doesn't have to be you. I don't want you to bound to me. If you found someone else later how you go to them when you have marked me as yours."
Dunk still didn't looked at Joong. He was looking at the floor like it was the most interesting thing in the world.Joong came to Dunk and sat on the chair beside the bed. Then he take Dunk's hand in his and gripped it tight.
"Listen to me Dunk. This is about your life and we are running out of time. And do you want to be mated to some stranger rather than me?" Joong sounded hurt and sad.
Dunk could feel the weight of Joong's words, the sincerity in his eyes, and the genuine concern for Dunk's well-being. The grip on Dunk's hand was both comforting and pleading.
"I don't want anyone else, Joong. But I also don't want to force you into something you might regret," Dunk admitted, his voice filled with a mix of emotions.
Joong's gaze held Dunk's firmly. "I'd regret losing you more. We can face whatever comes next together, Dunk. So please let me do this for you."
Joong almost pleaded. Dunk sighed and noded agreeing with Joong.
"But please take me home first. I hate staying in healer's house."
