If I Could Run

Chapter 11

I woke up to my alarm clock going off. I completely forgot that I had school! I turned it off quickly so that I didn't wake Mike up who had his arms wrapped around me and was still sleeping. I faced him lying down and kissed his forehead gently I got up and went into the bathroom and took a nice hot shower. I wrapped my towel around myself and then walked back into my room. He was still sound asleep. His work started at 9am it was 6:15am. I walked to my dresser and opened the drawer and took out those bluejean shorts with black lace and a black laced tube top to go with it. I was about to go back into the bathroom to get dressed when I heard him say,
"Morning."
"One minute I said back." And walked into the bathroom and got dressed. I brushed my teeth and curled my hair into long wavy curls. I put on mascara and eyeliner and then walked back out.
"Wow there!" Mike said examining my clothes.
"What?" I ask
"Well it's just you look-"
"Jealous much?" I laugh, "Do you really think that I would want to impress anyone else?" I ask. "Mikey, all I care about is right here." I say putting my arms on his shoulders.
"Thanks." He blushed hugging me, "I love you."
"I love you too." I say.
"Ok let's go eat."He said holding my hand and smiling. We walked downstairs and into the kitchen. The maids poured us cereal and got us some orange juice. The cereal was frosted flakes!!! I ate them in seconds I guess I was hungry. I drank my juice and then went back up to grab my backpack while Mike finished eating. I grabbed my bag and walked to Amelia I had already told her on text on the car ride home from Volcano road about Becky.
"Have you heard anything?" I asked. She was facing the wall looking out the window.
"Ya.." She said turning around to me. "She's ok thank god. She got a minor concussion on her head and broke her right left leg but she's ok."
I made a sigh of relief and ran to her and hugged her.
"thank god!" I yelled happily. "I was afraid she was dead." I said getting a little upset.
"She said she wants to see you after school right away."
"Ok" I said.
"How are you and Mike?" She said smiling.
"Good. We made out this morning." I squealed.
"Is he a good kisser?" She asked.
"No words describe it." I said leaning against a wall love struck.
"I want a boyfriend!" She yelled leaning against the wall next to me. "Have you told my parents?"
"No we're gonna tell them tonight out at dinner." I told her. "We should get to school."
"Your right but first does this outfit look ok?" She asked. She was wearing a purple dress with yellow Hawaiian flowers and yellow high heals. Her hair was up in a high ponytail and her hair was crimped.
"Yes! Your beautiful." I said honestly and smiling.
"Ok." She said smiling and she took my arm and we went to the front door. Before we left Mike pulled me to the side and kissed me goodbye. I smiled and said,
"Bye Mikey!" And kissed him again. Amelia and I walked I her car and drive to school. Her car was red and she had a little Hawaiian flower smelly in her car. Mike already finished school. He was super smart so he already finished school and was looking for colleges. I was upset that he was though because if he had to go far away and I couldn't come I'd be heart broken. I miss him too much. We blasted the music in her car and finally pulled up to the school. OceanHigh was its name. We walked out and into the school. In our school everyone thought as each other as equals. Since it was a peaceful place we all shared we all learned to all be family. I wasn't originally from Hawaii I was from Denver in Colorado. My mom got a job here so we moved here. Then after dad went missing she was acting a bit crazy and tired and went she went to work she kept messing up and was fired. Those people had no idea what she was going through. I was 5 when we moved here. But 16 when dad disappeared. I met Amelia and Becky the year I came here and went to OceanElementary. I stuck with the Ocean schools because my friends went there.
We walked to our classes and nothing really happened till the last class, math. Me and Amelia were trying to do our math that made no sense. We tried using the calculator but still didn't understand so we got bored and then just started to write stuff on our calculator. You know like hello upside down is 01134. So we were having a little contest to see who knew the most upside down numbers when it hit me. My dad gave me the letters r-l-w-o. Maybe "numbers" meant to put the letter into numbers! I imidiatley got out a paper and started writing down r l w and o. I went to my computer and thought about how I would write a r in it. I put in a 7 then I wrote seven on my paper.
"What are you doing?" Amelia asked looking at my paper.
"In my dream my dad said these letters." I said pointing to my paper. "He told me numbers and backwards. Numbers must mean to put the letters into numbers based on how they look."
"Oh..so l must be one!" She yelled excitedly scooting next to me to help. We kept going and found out the numbers part. 7130.
"Backwards must mean to put in the letters backwards." I said looking at her and then returning to my paper.
"So it's 0317!" She yelled clapping her hands excitedly. I laughed and then sat with a strait face again. "What now?" She asked.
"Well now it's gonna be even harder." I said, "what do these mean and where do I put them?" I asked. Then we were interrupted by our math teacher telling us to get to work. After school Amelia drove us to the hospital to check on Becky. We checked in and went to her room. We stopped to get flowers on the the way here too. We knocked on the room quietly and then peeked our heads inside. She was sitting in her bed looking up at the TV. We walked in smiling happy to see her doing ok.
"Hey guys!" She said happy to see someone other than doctors and her parents.
"We brought you these," I said handing her the flowers.
"They're orchids!" Amelia finished for me happily. I handed them to her and she smiled and hugged us.
"Thank you." We talked about her injuries for a while and then I just had to ask,
"So what do you remember from the crash?" I asked changing our still going conversation.
"Well I was driving up because I couldn't sleep and wanted to go on a little relaxing drive through the mountain roads." She said in thought. "Then this black figure came out of nowhere and I swerved around it trying not to hit it and that's when I hit the wall. I don't remember anything after that but waking up here." Amelia and I's mouths dropped.
"I'm so sorry!" We both said at the same time hugging her.
"It's fine really! I'm ok!" She said laughing.
"Did the figure get hit?" I asked.
"No I swerved around it." She said again.
"What did the figure look like?" I asked getting into the conversation.
"It looked like a normal person. I know it was in all black though." She said getting a little worked up about the conversation.
"Did you see what he was..." I asked but was cut off by Amelia saying,
"Katie I think she's been through a lot let's just let her rest."
"Right sorry." I said.
We hugged her goodbye and then left.
She drove me home and I walked inside. I didn't go to my room. I went strait to Mike's room. He wasn't home yet. He got home at 4. It was 3:20. I sat at his neat desk and started my homework while I waited. I really missed him. Once I heard the door open I got shoe excited. I pretended like I wasn't and kept my cool and continued my homework.
"Wow...hello Katie!" Mike said surprised I was in his room. He closed the door and I jumped off the chair right into his arms.
"I missed you so much!" We both said at the same time. We laughed and he carried me to his bed and sat down, me still in his arms. I sat up so I was sitting on his lap.
"How was your day?" He asked.
"I found out what my father meant!" I screamed happily. I told him about the math class and everything and then he said,
"That's great! But where does this code thing need to go to?"
"Exactly I said standing up passing back and forth,"I don't know."
"I'm sure we'll find out." He stood up and came behind me and held his arms around me. His radio was on playing the song, Thinking Out Loud. He spun me around so I was facing him and his arms were around my waist. I smiled and put my arms around his shoulders. We danced around his room laughing and blushing like crazy. At the end he dipped me and when he pulled me back up he gave me the most amazing kiss he had ever given me. We were tired from standing so we sat on his bed. He gave me another breath taking kiss. Then my phone went off with a text from my mom telling me to come down stairs quickly.
