If I Could Run

Chapter 25

"Katie.." Says a gentle young woman's voice. She sounded my age. "Katie you need to open your eyes." I opened them slowly and saw the girl in the blue glowing dress. Her hair was floating around as if there was no gravity. It was almond brown and her eyes were the same color,
"Destiny?" I asked, "where are we? What's going on?" I say sitting up. We're on a white glowing platform and the sky is filled with stars. I gasp, "Oh my god! am I dead??!" I scream.
"No no, your not dead I am simply just visiting you."
"Ok.. I'm confused."
"Katie, I am the treasure you'll find in the gem." She says, "don't loose me keep me on this chain." She hands me a white chained necklace.
"How?" I ask taking the chain.
"You'll see," she says, "I am the goddess of the heaven." She continues, "You must find the five goddess, they will each give you an item."
"I-I don't understand what's going on." I say even more confused then earlier."
"I'll visit you soon Katie." She says and then she starts to fade away.
"Wait!" I scream, "I need to know more!"
The girl faded away and then the white panel got brighter and brighter until I couldn't see.

I sat up in my guest bedroom bed and gasped for breath.
"It's ok, it's ok!" Yells Amelia as she runs to me.
"Why am I here?" I ask. I thought I'd be in a hospital. Or was this entire thing a dream? No. It couldn't be.
"We took you back from the hospital this morning." She says gently Handing me a glass of water.
"So it's real?" I ask sipping at the cool water.
"What real?" She asks confused.
"The volcano and my dad-" I gasp and tears stream down, "where's my dad?!" My mom rushed in the room and hugged me.
"You dad didn't make it." She whispered.
Then it hit me. I remembered the whole night, the cave, the gem, my dad staying behind to save us, the girl in the ambulance, and the dream. On the dresser was the chain I got from that girl in my dream. It wasn't a dream thank god. My mom hugged me for a while as I cried into her shoulder.
"Is-is Mikey ok?" I ask.
"He's fine, he's in his room sleeping, that explosion made you both pass out," she told me, "that and the dramatic night."
------------Later that night-----------
I was dressed in those black shorts and was wearing a batman shirt. I had black converse on and my hair was down. I grabbed my bag from the night before and ran outside with Mike beside me.
"Do you have the hammer?" I ask him.
"Yup." He hands me the hammer from his garage. I sat the red gem down on a old stump and held the hammer in my hand.
"Ready?" I ask. He nods. We're both anticipating this. In one quick move I raise the hammer and smash it. The gem crumbles away and onto the floor. A shine rises from the crumbles and into the air. The red crumbles disappear into white and blue sparkles. It beets all the stars in the sky. The star I used to wish on was nothing compared to this light blue glow. Sparkles rise up and formed a shape. It was the girl.
"Katie, I told you we'd speak soon." She smiles, "your adventures are far away from complete. Take this." A map appears from the crystals and transform into real paper and is placed in my hand. Mike holds my hand. "Together you both must find the rest of the goddesses. Jasmine goddess of nature, Ember goddess of fire and lava, Oceana goddess of ocean and water, Aira goddess of wind, and finally me, Destiny goddess of the Heavens." She continues,
"Come find me and I will help you on your journey, here is the gift inside the gem," the glowing light above her floats down in front of us and the light fades away and reveals a small ring with a picture of a forest in the middle.
"This was the ring from the story my dad used to tell me." I say clutching the ring with all my heart. I put it on the chain and wore it as a necklace.
"Come find me in my temple and we will discuss further."
"How do we get to you?" I ask
"Follow the map and keep that ring with you and out of sight." She answers, "I'll see you later." Then she faded away smiling and the night turned into just a normal silent night.
"Mike," I say
"Ya?"
"We're going to find Destiny." I pull out the map.
"Where do we go?" He asks walking closer to me. I study the map for a moment. And reply,
"The Moon."
