Chapter 2 Phone Call

After school I walked home with my two friends Amilia and Becky there my best friends and I can tell them anything. We walked to my house and I came in and said goodbye to them

"See ya tomorrow" we all called

I dropped my backpack at the door and kicked off my shoes walking to the kitchen I saw my mom there in tears talking on the phone but they were tears of all things happy,sad,confused, and worried. We made eye contact and I mouthed "are you ok?" She held up one finger to symbol one minute. I walked in my kitchen and grabbed and snack and sat across from my mom at our counter.

"Ok thank you, bye" my mom said as she hung up the phone.

"Mom what's going on?" I said munching on my carrots and ranch dressing.

"Katie, they found clues of your father there fresh."

I neraly chocked on my carrot "Wait so he's still alive?"

"Hopefully" she replied wiping her eyes

"Well were did they find it?" I asked handing her a tissue from the purple box on the counter we were sitting at.

"In the hill up to volcano road."

"Are we aloud to check it out?"

" I am.. But I want you to stay here." My mother said with a worried tone.

"Why!?" I argued.

"Honey you never know if something bad may happen." She said scared.

I gave her a confused look. "Honey go work on your homework we'll talk more later. "She said

I gave her a fake smile and said "ok thanks mom"

My mom walked out the door but right when that door closed I suddenly felt like I was being watched.
