I woke up in my guest bedroom. The sun shined through my white curtains lighting the room up with a light orange. I sat up realizing I was still in my clothes from last night. I looked at the scratches on my arms and legs. I stood up and walked to my bathroom. I grabbed a washcloth and soaked it with water. After ringing it out a little, I wiped the blood off and cleaned my scratches. I put the washcloth down and splashed some water in my face and then dried off. I looked a little better. I went to my closet and pulled out leggings and a long black long sleeve with lace on the arms. I grabbed some undergarments and then sat them down on the bathroom counter and took a shower. The warm water felt really nice and being able to wash my body with soap was also really nice. I hopped out after I finished, dried off, and got dressed. I didn't bother with makeup it was Sunday who cared? I sat at a little desk in my room and started out the window thinking. I grabbed the journal of my dads out of the backpacks and looked through the pages. I saw him in his room in my dream but he's not there he's in a jail cell somewhere down there. There's a tunnel with other entrances other than his closet. Someone was down there for some reason and found Mike and I. I flipped through his journal looking for answers.
"Katie?" My mother asked knocking on the door.
I put the journal away quickly and opened the door.
"Hi mom."
"It's nearly noon I was just making sure you were awake."
"I'm awake."
"Ok well lunch will be done soon."
"Ok thanks mom."
She walked away and I was about to close the door when Mike burst in.
He closed the door.
"What?" I asked startled.
"I need to tell you about what I saw down there."
"Ok"
We walked to my desk and we sat down.
"When I was in the cave, I saw a red light coming from a door just before that man attacked me." He told me. My eyes opened wide.
"Wait, red light?" I asked again.
"Yes"
I grabbed the journal and flipped through the pages.
"I think I saw something about that" I flipped through more until I finally found the page.
"Aha!"
I read the page out loud,
"Today I discovered the power source they need from me. It's a red stone in the center of the volcano. It's surrounded by real lava and is impossible to get. Well I can get it. So could Katie with our secret. But she doesn't know how to use it."
"What is your dad talking about with the secret stuff?" Mike asks
"I don't know"
"Does he say anything about it?"
"No"
We stand there quietly for minutes until mom calls us for lunch.
"We'll figure it out after lunch." I say as we leave my room and begin to walk down the stairs.
We eat in silence until our sandwiches are done. I get up and return to my room. I don't wanna think about this anymore I just want to go to the beach and swim. I change into my swimsuit and put my hair in a pony tail. My swimsuit was a teal bikini with white wide white stripes. I slipped on my light blue shorts with lace and some white flip flops. I shoved a towel into a bag and then left the house. I walked down to the beach since it was only 5 minutes away in walking distance. Once I arrived at the beach I lied down my towel and took of my flip flops and shorts. I ran into the water missing the feel of it. I hadn't swam in so long. I squished my toes in the sand and then walked farther into the water. I got far enough to cover my waist. I stood there staring into the water. It was so beautiful the way the blue glistened in the sun. I went in a little farther and now it was half way up my stomach. I dazed into thought while standing there. What does my dad mean, powers? Secret? What is this red crystal in the volcano? Why do people need it? Why could only dad and I get it? Nothing made any sense. I thought back to Mike. He was such a great guy. He really cared for me in every way. He loved me. I smiled thinking about him. All the sudden I'm lifted out of the water to where the water is just below my waist. I head that adorable laugh and begin to laugh too.
"Mikey." I smile turning around and hugging him.
"Katie, I love you." He says to me smiling. There was absolutely no reason for him to say that he just did. I smile and say the words back and kiss him. We walk to the towels I laid down and he had lied down. We lie down in the towels talking. He made me laugh and smile. This has to be true love. There's no one else in the world I would ever want to be with than him. I smile as I stare at his features. Such warm big blue eyes, light brown hair, his cute little nose, his smile.
"What are you smiling at?" He asks as I snap out of my daze. I smile again at him.
"I'm smiling at you." I say quietly.
"Why?" He asks.
"Because I love you." I say back gently brushing his bangs out of his eye. He smiles and holds my hand to his face. We stare into each others eyes.
"I love you too Katie." He gently replies kissing me. When sunset hit we were still lying there. His arms wrapped around me as we smile and stare into the water. My head was on his chest and he kissed my forehead every now and then.
The sunset shone a bright orange on the water. The sky lit up with those bright beautiful colors. Some stars were able to be seen if you looked close enough.
"Hey Mikey." I say sitting up and smirking.
"Ya?"
"Try to get me!" I yell quickly getting up and running along the beach waters. I hear him laugh and come after me. We run through the water along the beach. He catches up to me and lift me up and spins me around as I laugh. Once I'm back on the ground we face each other as he wraps his arms around me. I laugh in his arms and stare into his eyes. I rest my head on his shoulder and we look into the sunset.
"We should go." He says after the sun goes down. I nod. He carries our stuff to his car and then we get in. He drives into the night to our house and I fall asleep in the seat smiling.
