If I Could Run

Chapter 12

I ran down the stairs to my mom not even explaining anything to Mike. When I got down my mom was standing there with the two police officers that brought me my stuff the other day.
"Katie, they would like to talk to you." She told me nervously. I nodded and went to the living room with them so we could talk. We sat on the white sofas and then they started talking.
"So Katie, we were talking to Becky and she said she saw a black figure on the road." I nodded already knowing this information.
"So we know who it was." They said adding more suspense. The slightly shorter one reached his hand in his bag and pulled out a Manila Envelope. He handed it to me and said,
"Look inside." I bit my lip and then reached my hand into the envelope. I pulled out a picture of something. I looked at it closer and my eyes got huge with disbelief.
"It's the Black Shoe guy." The other one said.
"So that figure was him??" I asked. The picture had the black dress shoe sitting next to the smashed vehicle. They nodded.
"Now..." The other one said looking strait in my eyes, "what were you doing up there?"
I knew I shouldn't lie.
"Ok I wasn't passing by like I told everyone. I was with Mike because I had this dream about my dad." I explained the dream, "so I went up there to go look around to see if it was true. And it was! My hand went through the lava, there was a secret door, and I've already found out the code!" I yelled excitedly. They grew quiet.
"That was nothing more of a dream, Katie. Leave this work to the police officers." Before I could say anything else they stood up and left. I'd show them! This wasn't a dream. It was my dad actually speaking to me. I went back upstairs to Mike's room and finished my homework while he helped me when I needed help. When I was done I went to my room to find a dress to wear out for dinner. I found a teal dress with white designs on it. It was strapless. I wore a white jeweled necklace and teal flower earrings. I heard a knock on my door right after I finished curling my hair again and putting on makeup. I opened it and saw Mike. He was starring at me with his jaw dropped.
"You look better than anyone else!" He said pulling me into a kiss. Then we heard a call from his dad saying,
"Come down were leaving now for the restaurant!" We walked down. He was wearing a Tux. It was a very expensive fancy place so that's why we were dressed like this. We met the family down stairs and walked to the car out side. We piled in and drove to the restaurant. When we got there we took our seats and I sat next to Mikey. It was the night we were gonna tell them. We held hand under the table. We ordered our drinks and food and when it arrived Mike cleared his throat to speak to the table.
"We have a announcement we would like to share!" Mike said looking at me with those beautiful blue eyes. I smiled and turned towards his mom and dad and my mom. Amelia giggled.
"We would like to tell you guys that we are....dating!" He yelled again. There wasn't even a second of silence before they all started talking.
"Well finally!" One said
"It took you guys long enough!" Said another
"This calls for dessert!" Yelled his father laughing. After our meal filled with happiness and love. We ordered some dessert. I got a chocolate slice of cake and ice cream scoops on the side. Me and Mike shared. After dinner we walked back to the car and drove home. Since the rest of the week was school days I couldn't go back to volcano road. I walked in to my room and got into my pajamas which where a blue tank top and white comfy shorts. It was too hot in Hawaii to ever wear anything else to bed. I turned on the TV in my room and sat on the top of my bed deciding what to watch. My door opened to Mike walking in and closing the door. I paused the TV and looked at him,
"What are you doing?" I asked standing up a little shocked he didn't knock. He walked closer to me and said,
"So I could do this," he pulled me into one of his amazing breathtaking kisses. I was pressed against the wall again and had my arms around him and he did as well to me. I gave into it because I wanted to kiss him. I pushed him back realizing what time it was.
"What?" He asked breathing heavily. I was looking at my clock and turned around to look at him,
"It's 10:49." I said looking back at him. "I need to go to sleep." I said not wanting him to leave.
"Oh..." He said a little upset.
I got really nervous and bit my lip and said,
"Would you like to stay with me?" He nodded. My room was hot even with the balcony doors open and my windows open. We crawled onto my bed not bothering to use the blankets. He took off his shirt since it was so hot. I never had known he had a 6pack. He crawled down next to me and held me close. He kissed my forehead and whispered,
"Goodnight Katie."
