I'm rudely awoken at what seems like the crack of dawn to my alarm going off, I turn over to switch it off only to realise it's 9:30 am. Shit I think to myself, I'm meant to be at London Colney at 11 what am I doing still in bed. I quickly hurry out of bed and into the shower before getting my kit out of my wardrobe and quickly putting it on. I glance at myself in the mirror and smile, yes I'd played for Arsenal my whole life but this was different, I was playing with the senior team now. I grab my kit bag and head downstairs for breakfast before getting into my car and driving to London Colney. It's 10:15 when I get into my car and I'm panicking. What ever you do or say, don't let onto them or let them see how much you're actually struggling or they certainly won't want you on the team. No one needs to know about your family problems or the fact you despise physical touch, I just pray no one tries to hug me or anything because I'll freak out. Growing up, I never really experienced physical touch in the loving way you might think, instead it was physical touch but in a more violent way and typically from my dad because he seemed to love drugs more then his family. Then when I got into my first relationship, everything was going fine until she turned violent and so I left, it was hard but I did it. After about a year and a half of being single I start seeing a new woman, she's lovely, well so I think. Everything was going well until she turned out like the last, maybe it was me that was the problem, so that's the reason I've been single for 2 years and absolutely despise physical touch and typically keep myself to myself, I don't really speak much. My overthinking seems to come to an end when I pull into the car park of London Colney and see a tall blond girl almost looking like she's waiting for my arrival. Mhm strange I think to myself but climb out of the car anyway.

Leah: "hey you must be Alice, I'm Leah nice to meet you" she leans in for a hug but I step back

Alice: "yep I'm Alice, nice to meet you too" I say with a small smile on my face

Leah: "we don't have training today so if you brought your things you can just leave them in the car" she looks slightly disappointed with the way I stepped back from the hug

Alice: "oh okay no worries, what are we up to then"

Leah: "well Jonas asked me to give you a tour of the place and then we have a small team meeting just so the girls can get to know you and vice versa then we're done"

Alice: "sounds good, let's get going then"

Leah leads the way and I stay close behind her, she has pretty long legs and I'm only 5'4 so I'm finding it a struggle to keep up with her long strides and I think Leah notices as she stops and turns to face me

Leah: "my apologies if I'm walking too fast, everyone always complains"

Alice: "it's okay, I'm just not very tall so can't walk that fast"

Leah: "I see what you mean, right just follow me through this door and I'll show you a few of the rooms"

I follow Leah in and I'm well and truly starstruck, I can't really believe I'm here. Leah shows me the team meeting room and the pitches outside which are incredible.

Leah: "I hope you won't be in here for a while, well at all to be honest, but I'll show you anyway" she says opening the door to the medical room

Medic: "oh hi Leah, everything okay"

Leah: "yeah all good just showing Alice around, she's our new signing"

Medic: "lovely to meet you Alice although I hope to not see you in here anytime soon"

Alice: "yeah me neither, lovely to meet you too" I smile at him

Leah: "right we will leave you too it, enjoy your day"
