MY grandfather was furious again. We have explained ourselves of what happened last night, pero hindi niya tinatanggap ang aming mga paliwanag. Surely, we want to enjoy sometimes and get drunk though Athena wasn't used to that kind of life but she got brokenhearted and that was her way to ease the pain. Maayos na sila ni Sir Carlos kaya wala nang naging problema. Ang problema ay nakatuon na sa akin dahil sa pakikipaglapit ko na naman kay Rasquin na sobrang kinagagalit ng lolo ko.

Nang makalabas kami sa kwarto ay wala kaming nagawa ni Athena kundi ang sumunod kay Lolo. We only uttered thanks to Rasquin and Sir Carlos dahil sa pagmamadali. Our grandfather had been on the verge of shouting insults.

"You shameless creatures!" at sa bahay na nga niya kami sinigawan. "At sa lungga ng lalaki pa talaga kayo natulog! Very rebellious! You know my rules, Athena. You can do anything you want. Anything. Just don't sleep with a guy. Formally, introduce him to us. Graduate first. Earn a degree. Get engage. Get married and have sex. Simple rules, Athena! I don't care if he's the right hand of that prince or the prince himself, get married first!"

By that lines, I got it already that our grandfather knew Athena has a boyfriend.

But to screw his assumptions, walang nangyari kagabi. Not between me and Rasquin though since he acted very gentle last night like changing my clothes and tuck me to bed while he was watching me until I fall asleep. Hindi ko alam kay Athena kasi mas nauna sila ni Sir Carlos sa bahay ni Rasquin.

"Nothing happened, Lolo. We had a little misunderstanding that was why we talked last night. Hindi po namin namalayan ang oras. We are sorry for the mistake committed. Never to happen again. And yes, I'll introduce him to you someday."

Tumingin ako kay Athena kasi seryosong-seryoso siya sa pagbanggit ng mga katagang iyon. I am totally happy for Athena if she's in love since I am in the same state as her.

Sa naging sagot ni Athena, mas lalong dumiin ang titig ni Lolo mula sa kanya patungo sa akin. I wanted to gulp the rock inside my throat.

"Trust me, Lolo. He acted gentleman last night. Nothing happened."

"Hindi ko rin alam kung ano ang hindi mo maintindihan, Ivory. Alaric is literally engaged to be married. You can't have a relationship with him. Masasaktan ka lang kapag dumating ang panahon na hindi ka niya pipiliin. He will not choose you over the duties he has for his country! Hindi ka pwedeng makipag-relasyon sa kanya!"

Bawat bitaw ng salita, mas lalong nagiging galit si Lolo. Hindi ko rin siya maintindihan kung bakit ayaw na ayaw niya akong makipaglapit kay Rasquin. What was his true concern?

"Things like these can't be dictated, Lolo," sumeryoso na ako kasi naguguluhan din ako. Pwede bang sundin ko 'yong puso ko sa mga ganitong bagay? Ayaw ko na 'yong dinidiktahan ako sa mga mahahalagang parte ng aking buhay. "I like him. I want this relationship with him. It can't be forced. I tried very hard to deny these feelings, Lolo."

No need to lie to myself. Hindi ko na kayang lokohin at e-deny pa ang totoo kong nararamdaman para kay Rasquin. I saw Athena's face lit up, parang naging proud siya bigla sa akin.

"Shameless for you think that you can have a man like him! Their rules bind him to marry a noble lady."

"Their rules will not bind his heart, Lolo. I don't understand your opposition. Some people will be happy if their daughter will catch a prince. Not that I'll use his power or money, I don't care about any of that. All I care is I will have him throughout my journey here. Hindi po ba dapat ay maging masaya ka para sa akin?"
