IVORY

AT THE HESPEROS BALL, the grandest and sparkliest ball of the season, Alaric proposed to me again in front of the Aerglorian queen. I had been invited by His Grace. Alaric and I talked through the dance. And when the dance ended, he knelt down and asked the magical line every existed, sliding a pink diamond on my finger.

His proposal had been trending for how many days on the countries concerned. Cambrevia. Aergloria. Philippines. When the news bursted out, my family contacted me for congratulations except my father and my grandfather. Hindi ako aasa dahil simula pa naman ay hindi gusto ng mga ito ang pagpapakasal ko kay Alaric.

My mother was happy for me. It was the first time and unexpected. Dahil ang tangi kong alam, suportado lahat ni Mommy ang mga gusto ni Daddy. Akala ko hindi ako makakaani ng suporta mula sa kanya patungkol sa mahalagang bahagi ng buhay ko.

Ivonne was clapping her little hands as the car journeyed the long pathway of the Grand Palace, and the lush greeneries made the biggest palace I have a seen ..a fairytale come true.

Nang matapos ang state visit ni Alaric sa Aergloria, agad siyang nagplano na dadalhin kami ni Ivonne sa Cambrevia para ipakilala sa kanyang mga magulang. I was never hesitant since Ivonne was the granddaughter. They have the rights to know and meet Ivonne, especially now, Alaric had mentioned that Ivonne would be his heir apparent for the throne. Hindi ko nga iyon pinagtuunan ng pansin kasi gusto kong maranasan ni Ivonne na lumaki na hindi iniisip ang mga responsibilidad bilang Grand Duchess in the future.

Aside from that, hindi na nawala iyong kaba ko mula sa Aergloria papunta rito sa Cambrevia.

Hindi ako mapakali. Hindi makatulog. The former Grand Duke and the Dowager Duchess of Cambrevia would assess and evaluate if I would be qualified for their son. It was a thrilling and shivering moment to think. It wasn't needed, but it could be expected. This was the Grand Duke we are talking about, and his Grand Duchess would be something that his parents approved also.

Alaric had told me that his parents had been aware of my existence long before Ivonne. Ano kaya ang reaksyon na matatanggap ko mula sa mga magulang niya kung iisipin na ako ang dahilan kung bakit walang condesa sa tabi ni Alaric habang kinokoronahan bilang pinuno ng bansa?

Oh God. My nerves were killing me.

"Love, it's okay..." Alaric chuckled and kissed my hands. "They are eager to meet the two of you."

"Don't lie to me, Ras para gumaan lang ang loob ko." Mas lalo siyang natawa at dalawang kamay na niya ang nakahawak sa mga nanlalamig kong kamay.

"It's true, baby. There's nothing to be worry about."

Ayaw ko nang magsalita kasi mas lalo lang ako kinakabahan.

"I'm sure, Mama. Lolo and Lola will be happy to see us!"

Tumango ako kay Ivonne saka pilit na ngumiti.

"Don't be afraid, Mama. Me is here!" She hugged my arm which was on her front. Nasa gitna siya namin ni Alaric, and Alaric was holding it.

"Thank you, baby."

"I'm the Grand Duke. My words are the laws here, Ivory," asar na naman niya. "If you're my happiness, they should support me."

Tumango ako.

"Nasaan ang 'thank you baby' ko?"

I only smiled at his tease. Alam ko namang pinapagaan lang niya loob ko. "Thank you, my love."
