THE cold wind of the calm night embraces me as I stepped out from the car. Pinagbuksan ako ng driver namin at nagpasalamat ako pagkatapos. My long red dress shone as I made my way through the long pathway directing to the biggest resort in the city.

Ako ang pinadalo ni Daddy ngayon sa isang auction party kung saan ang mga proceeds na malilikom ay e-do-donate sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo. It will be used to build new houses and as capital for the victims' new livelihood.

My father just departed from the country to Cambrevia. It is a small country in Europe where he usually takes his visits. May gagawin daw siya doon na mahalagang bagay. Mr. Alejandro Santiago is my father, and is now one of the Senators in the country. Kaya gaya ng ganitong mahahalagang event, ay ako ang dumadalo para sa kanya kapag masyado siyang abala. My eldest sister was too busy to allocate little minute of her time. My mother has another important appoinment. But she has ways also to contribute to charitable works.

Sa grand entrance ng malaking events hall ng resort ay tanaw na tanaw ko na ang dami ng tao. People from the high class society, wearing their most fancy and sparkling gowns, and suits that are tailored by famous designers in the country.

I got mine from Sydney Gallardo, a famous designer of beauty queens. She's my friend in the showbiz industry so I ask her a little favor. Hindi pwedeng hindi ako magmumukhang dyosa ngayong gabi. I make sure that my beauty will stand out tonight.

The boy who rejected me has another date for this night. Nikos Jacinto is my long time crush, a boy of my dreams. He's on the top of the Dean's Lister in the engineering department. The heir of the richest hoteliers in the country, the campus-heartthrob, and the hunkie guy of the batch. Ayaw ni Nikos sa akin dahil hindi ako matalino, spoiled-brat, showbiz personality at anak ng isang Senador na noon pa sinasabi ni Nikos na hindi siya pumapatol sa kagaya ko.

Some young businessmen greeted me. I only smile at them and headed my way to my assigned seat. Ramdam ko ang mga titig ng mga tao, at iyon ang gusto ko. I love people's attention. I love the spotlight. I love to have my name in magazines.

Kapagkuwan ay nasisilaw na ako sa mga flash ng camera ng mga news media sa harap. I maintain my sweetest smile at them while someone asks me about my father.

"Yes, I represent him. He has an important business in Cambrevia," simple kong sagot sa reporter. Bumaling naman agad ang atensyon nila sa dumating na dalawang tao na umupo ilang seats lang ang layo sa akin.

Lumundag ang puso ko nang makita si Nikos. Dashing in his white three piece suit, Nikos smiled at every flash of the camera. Katabi naman nito ang pinakatinitingala ngayong artista na si Ashley Martinez. Madalas ko itong nakakasama sa mga teleserye kapag nakukuha akong supporting actress o di kaya ay antagonist. Minsan lang ako nag-oo sa mga big projects dahil nasa pag-aaral ang focus ko ngayon. People branded me as the kontrabida princess sometimes. I have a future in the showbiz industry but my goal for this year is to study.

Hindi ako suportado ni Daddy sa pagiging artista. Tinitingala ko ang aking ama sa pagiging matalino na nagpakamit sa kanya ng iba't-ibang honors sa mga malalaking unibersidad sa bansa pati na sa Europa, kaya gagawin ko ang lahat na makapasok lamang sa Dean's Lister.

I am now in my first year in college. All my cousins, aunties and uncles on my mother's side have licenses of their earned degrees. Puro sila matatalino. Hindi ko nga alam kung saan napunta ang mga dugo ng Daddy at Mommy ko at bakit hindi ako matalino kagaya nila.
