IVORY
MY LIFE had been calm, full of realizations, alone, and thriving within the four years of my life here in Aergloria. My father wasn't a saint, not a good man for sure. He had a lot of money that came from his illegal business, but I kept on closing my eyes because I didn't have a voice to utter an opinion inside our household.
Though I benefited from his money while I was living here, hindi pa rin 'yon tama. So I thrive harder as I could just to release myself from him again.
I was walking through the large pathway of the university, never minding the busy people in front of the large building that looked like a castle. It was a large performing arts center.
"You know Dad aspires to run for the presidency next year. His side of the family is worrying, Ivory. We lost connections which I confer when I heard Daddy mentioning that his business are slowly being captured by the authorities."
I sighed, stopping from my tracks when I saw some students raising a familiar flag on our large flag poles. "Wala naman akong maitutulong, Ate. Nandito ako, namumuhay. Much that I wanted to help, pero paano? Kilala na natin si Daddy. Noon pa man wala namang may gusto sa ginagawa niya, but we assumed that he is protected because as they termed it 'he's a man in the government'. Paano mangyayari 'yon? Someone betrayed him?"
"Ano pa nga ba? He is losing the connections, but someone promised him that he will not get jailed." From selling and protecting the trading of illegal drugs. What a shame.
"So okay lang naman pala? Hindi mabibilanggo," I almost mocked because the justice system in the Philippines sucked big time. Like how I sucked at protecting my heart.
This is our bloodline. This is our life. Stupid people!"
We're living peacefully. Sinunod ko sila, ikinasal na si Alaric. Kalimutan na natin ang mga nangyari."
I would never forget him when everyday I was reminding by the angel he had brought to me.
"Which I severely disagree! You don't know what had happened after your incident. Sabi ko kay Daddy, pabayaan na lang kayo ng prinsipe 'cause obviously you're in love. You were in love. Walang mawawala. Mas dadami ang koneksyon niya. He can get Senator Sanchez support and even the President. He stood firm that his mates could win the elections through him. Dumagdag pa ang pagdating ni Alexander na nangako sa kanya na papaluguin pa lalo ang kanyang negosyo because he's in that industry kalakip pa ng two hundred billion na halaga ng pera para mailayo ka lang sa prinsipe. But who cried? He could destroy our family because of his anger. He did destroy Alexander's though."
She didn't even breathe to stop talking.
Two hundred billion? That's my price? Fucking shit of a father!
"So buong akala ko ay pinalayas ako kasi papatayin kayo?" I chuckled evilly. "I'm a business deal. Our family is shit.
