TW: burning
Out of all of them, Theo was a fairly good pairing.
Enzo maybe would have been my first choice if he wasn't so fucking stupid. He knows about my mark, him and I have always been close. However we would most certainly be dead by the end of the week. Part of me feels bad for Mattheo but then I think twice and I don't care.
Pansy would have been good, however we most likely would have died because we weren't focusing. We are too close to be spending time alone and trying to survive.
Thank fuck I wasn't left with Draco. He would have driven me insane, and I'd probably kill him before the death eaters even found us. Growing up with him was enough for me.
Finally, Mattheo. I think if I was paired with him I would have jumped in front of the bus. Any other day and I would get on with it. After last night's shouting match I don't even want to look at him. Partly because I'm so fucking angry. Partly because I know there is nothing I want less than to be with him right now.
"What is the best type of food that Hogwarts's has at lunch?" Theo says from beside me.
Confused, I turn my head away from the window to face him. His head is tilted to the ceiling, resting against the small part of the seat that his head isn't taller than.
"What?"
"The sand-witches." An accomplishes look forms on his face as he turns to look at me.
I pause. "Was that a joke?" A smile flickers on my lips.
"Did you not get it?"
"Yeah I-"
"Need me to explain it to you?"
"No Theo I don't."
His whole body shifts to face me , his hands out in front of him, moving around as he speaks. "So basically, its a play on the word sandwiches,-"
"I got it Theo-"
"But I changed it to witches-"
"Theo."
"Because you are a witch, so it's like a pun."
I wait to speak once he's finished. "Are you done?"
"Yep." He turns back to sit on the seat properly.
"Do you know why we nearly lose Enzo every other day?" I find myself talking without even thinking.
"Why?"
"He's always wand-ering around."
"Wow."
"I know."
"That was a good one." He sits up again, facing me. "You are almost as good as me."
"What can I say?"
Theo feeds me jokes for the rest of the journey. I am actually impressed with a few, that he comes up with them extremely quickly. I find my face stuck in a smile for what feels like the longest it's ever been. It's a small amount of time where I find I am allowed to be happy. Where I am in the moment, and I don't feel guilty for laughing.
My head is buried in my hands as I laugh, "That was a shit one."
"No it wasn't." Theo laughs back at me.
"Yeah it was."
"You are laughing."
"Because it was so shit." I pull my head up to meet his wide grin.
Jolting to a stop, the bus halts at the side of the road. "Everyone off," the bus driver shouts.
Caught off guard, we grab out bags and stand up before walking down the centre.
