The next two days of Vegas being home went by very quickly for most, but for Pete it was eternity. He fell more and more in love with the other each passing second. He saw how Vegas cared for Venice, his siblings and Pete. The little things he did to express his gratitude and love for them. He saw him as more than what he used to hear from Thankun.
Pete was in love. Even if he didn't remember what he was feeling before for the man, he believed that he loved Vegas.
The third day came and Pete woke in cold sweat again, not knowing why. He dreamt, he always did but he could never remember what. But now he did. He saw blood, guns, people-dead and injured. They were only flashes of scenes, maybe they weren't only dreams. He was in the mafia after all, that much he remembered.
Pete thought it was only a bad start of the day but when he walked down the stairs he didn't expect to see Aspen eating breakfast and Vegas nowhere in sight.
"Morning, Pete. Breakfast is over there." She told him and showed him where the rest of breakfast was.
"Where are the others?" He asked her. He was curious where the others were.
"Vegas is in the gym, Tae is still sleeping and Alex took Venice out to see the twins. Why?"
"Nothing. I was just curious, it was a little too quiet."
"Is something wrong Pete?" She asked when she saw how pale he was.
"It's nothing, I just had a nightmare."
"Nightmare?"
"Yeah."
"Are you sure that it was only a nightmare? You don't seem okay."
"I'll eat breakfast first and then go check on Vegas." He ignored her concerns.
"As you wish." Aspen excused herself and went up to her room to check on her sleeping husband.
Pete ate his breakfast in silence. It was somewhat creeping him out. It's like he wasn't used to it but when he was in the major family manor he always ate in silence, it was very silent there.
When he finished he washed his plate and then head to the gym where Vegas was supposed to be.
Meanwhile in the gym Vegas was taking out his frustration onto the punching bag after he had another nightmare. It was a coping mechanism he developed through the years. It was better to ruin a few punching bags a year than taking it out on other people.
The nightmares he had were all the same. Pete found out the truth, packed his bags, took Venice and fled. Vegas couldn't get over the disgust on Pete's face when he found out, the hurt in his eyes when he realized that Vegas wasn't who he thought he was.
He was so deep in his thoughts that he didn't notice his husband staring at him at the doorway.
Pete didn't announce himself he just stood there staring at the shirtless Vegas that was before him. He wanted to close his eyes but at the same time he couldn't take his eyes off his husband. He felt hot all over all of a sudden, what was this feeling?
Vegas then turned around to get himself water and saw Pete at the doorway and he got petrified. For a moment he lost his breath. His Pete was there watching him like a hawk observing it's prey.
"What are you doing here?" Vegas finally asked.
"You weren't in bed when I woke up, so I came to check up on you." Pete couldn't really speak, he was too in grossed in the picture before him.
"Well you saw me now."
"Yes, I have. Have you eaten?" That was too straight forwards and Pete kind of regretted even saying anything.
"I have don't worry." That was a lie, Vegas hasn't eaten. He just couldn't, he thought he'd vomit if he ate even a single bite of food.
"Good." Pete now got closer to Vegas. None of them said anything till Pete spoke up again, this time just a little above a whisper.
"Can I kiss you? I really want to kiss you." Vegas was stunned, he didn't expect Pete to ask him that.
"Then kiss me. You don't need to ask." And so Pete leaned in to kiss him.
Vegas laughed after they pulled apart and Pete slapped his arm.
"Why are you laughing?"
"You're just very cute. I love you." He answered , not even thinking of what came out of his mouth. When he realized he started to apologize but Pete cut him off, kissing him again.
"I think that I love you too."
"You think?" A small smile played on Vegas' face as he heard what the other said.
"Yeah."
"I need a shower." Vegas said breaking the silence.
"Yeah, you do. You're all sweaty."
"Want to help me?" Vegas asked smirking.
"You mean with the shower?"
"Yes."
"Okay." Pete smiled.
They went up to their room and into the bathroom. They showered, Pete helped washing Vegas' hair and Vegas helped with Pete's.
Pete got shy as they were naked together in the shower and Vegas had to assure him that it was okay and he didn't need to be shy.
"It's not like I haven't seen you naked before, my love. You're acting like we haven't been married for years."
"Yeah, I know. It's just I don't really remember anything."
"Then I should show you again."
After the shower Vegas led Pete to their bed and after laying him down went to lock the door in case anyone decided to barge in.
(You know what happened after, I'll leave it to the imagination.)After the deed they laid in bed together cuddling. They didn't say anything but it was okay that's just how they were.
"I love you." Pete whispered before falling asleep, not long after Vegas dozed off into a peaceful sleep too, a small smile still on his face. This time none of them had a nightmare thankfully.
