Chapter 165 - "Are you sure your boss will be back tomorrow for sure?" asked Li Kangyi. (2)
It was already the evening when the plane landed. As soon as the three stepped out of the plane, they could feel that strange and familiar cold air that went right through the skin toward their bones.
Cheng Huan put on that large sized down jacket once again but still felt cold. She shrank her neck and shivered. Her shoes were not thick and even her toenails had lost sensation from the short walk. All the more she admired the one next to her who seemed unaffected by the cold weather.
Jiang MingYuan walked next to her with XingXing in his arm. He had on the very familiar suit and just a thin shirt underneath. Just looking at him was enough to make one have goosebumps. Yet, somehow, his back was straight and his gait steady. He looked every bit just like normal.
After walking the hallway and into the indoor and the skin-slicing chilly air was blocked outside, Cheng Huan felt much better.
Jiang MingYuan put down XingXing and said to her, "I'll go get the luggage."
"I'll go with you." Figuring that she had two large suitcases, Cheng Huan felt bad to just stand there and wait for him.
Sadly, she thought she had it all well thought out. Worried that items at the hotel would be dirty, she had brought everything with her -- bedsheets, slippers, etc. As it turned out, all the daily items were brand new and better quality than the ones that she had brought with her. She never needed any of them and all they did was take up a lot of room.
"No need. I can handle it myself. You stay here with XingXing." Looking at her messy hair and how her neck shrank inside the jacket like a dove, he had the urge to rub her on her head. He finally gave up on that thought. His lips curved upward and his look warm, he said to her, "I can carry that little bit of stuff."
Having said that, he walked away swiftly.
Neither XingXing nor Cheng Huan were very useful right now. Being hit by the cold weather of City C, the little kiddo has shriveled up. He had even put on that thick jacket that he had been fighting against earlier. He had his arms together the way he had seen on television before. At the same time, he was naming out food that he wanted for dinner. After eating out for a few days, he particularly missed his mother's cooking.
"No pig feet today. It's too greasy and you won't be able to finish it. How about roast chestnut and chicken?" Cheng Huan rejected her son's request and suggested a different dish.
XingXing thought about it for a little bit and felt that chicken was acceptable as well. He nodded begrudgingly. "I want shrimp too."
"You still haven't had enough shrimp yet?" Cheng Huan reached her hand out with difficulty and pinch his little icy cheek. Then she reached out her other hand to warm his other cheek as she said to him, "Alright, shrimp it is."
The mother and son were just about to discuss what to make for soup when a surprised male voice rang. "Hey, what a coincidence. We met again."
It was the guy who was taking pictures before.
"I'm Yao Tan. Do you still remember me?" He introduced himself passionately. "You just got off the plane as well?"
Cheng Huan stood back up and nodded at him.
"Then it was all meant to be." He was overly friendly. "You live in City C as well, huh? Are you waiting on someone? I can give you a ride back. I happen to have two extra spots in my car."
"That won't be necessary."
"It's alright. You have helped me so much. Giving you a ride is no problem." He thought Cheng Huan was just being polite. He was just about to say something else when he was interrupted by XingXing.
The little kiddo was hungry from talking about dinner. He was already unhappy when he was interrupted and now this uncle was talking about taking his mommy away?!
