Chapter 97 - XingXing Got Lots of Toys (2)
The two of them had barely talked to each other so Cheng Huan hadn't expected that he'd talk to her. She paused for a second then shook her head.
"No, I am just looking."
She hasn't gotten anywhere with her first restaurant yet. There was no reason to aim too high.
They spent the rest of the afternoon at the amusement park and finally left when it was closing time.
After an entire day, XingXing had gotten much closer to Jiang MingYuan. He would call him "uncle" sweetly. After Jiang MingYuan had taken them home, the little kiddo kept on waving his little hand and saying goodbye to him.
Then he turned to Cheng Huan and asked, "Are we going out again tomorrow, Mommy?"
"No," said Cheng Huan definitively. She had poor balance and many of the rides in the park spun. It didn't take much for her to feel nauseated.
She turned around and headed home. The little kiddo, behind her, was still grumbling about how fun the amusement park was. Cheng Huan just pretended that she couldn't hear him. It was until dinner was ready before XingXing finally stopped grumbling.
That night, Cheng Huan bathed XingXing, put him in bed and read him a story to put him to sleep. After she has showered and was about to go to bed, she saw a message on his phone.
The sender was a series of numbers that looked somewhat familiar.
[Thank you.]
Cheng Huan raised her brows and didn't quite get it. She didn't respond to it. Placing her cellphone aside, she got into bed and turn the lights off.
Jiang MingYuan came again the next day. This time they didn't go to the amusement park but he took XingXing to the shopping mall instead. When they returned, they brought with them several bags of toys.
Watching the workers bringing them up bit by bit and the toys were taking over the couch, Cheng Huan frowned and said to not spoil the child.
"It's fine." Jiang MingYuan didn't mind at all. "As long as he is happy."
Since he said that, Cheng Huan didn't want to say anything. As soon as Jiang MingYuan had left, she took away half of the toys.
XingXing was still swimming in the sea of toys when half of them were taken away from him by his mother. He didn't even know how to respond but just looked at all the bags of stuff that were shoved into the top of the closet.
After Cheng Huan had put them away, she climbed back down and clapped her eyes. She turned and walked away after casting a glance over at XingXing.
The little kiddo was still dumbfounded. He stayed in the study by himself for a while, dazed, before he walked out leaning against the wall. Cheng Huan was busy inside the kitchen and XingXing walked over and hugged her around her thigh. "Mom!"
"Hmm?" replied Cheng Huan without stopping what she was doing.
She thought XingXing was going to fuzz about the toys and was already growing impatience.
"Are you mad, Mommy?" asked XingXing.
Little kiddo was very sensitive and could tell who liked him and who didn't from just one look. Cheng Huan was a bit distant today so, in his mind, it translated to "Mommy doesn't like him anymore."
Hearing his words, Cheng Huan stopped what she was doing.
She put down the cleaver in her hand and looked down at XingXing. The little kiddo's eyes were widened and filled with fear.
She had scared him...
Cheng Huan sighed to herself and felt a little regretful. She leaned down, put her arms around him, and patted him on his back. "Mommy is a little bit upset."
"But why?" XingXing was baffled.
Cheng Huan walked outside with him and the mother and son duo sat crossed legs on the couch facing each other. She took a breath and said, "Mommy is a little bit upset. Can you guess why?"
The little kiddo looked at her, his fingers clawing at the cover of the couch. He could sense that his mommy's displeasure had to do with him.
