Cheng Huan walked behind him, picked him up, put him on the ground, and turned the tap off.

Startled, XingXing looked up at her, dazed. Cheng Huan poked him on his forehead and said, "I am already done cooking."

"Oh..." XingXing took a look at the last bit of crushed vegetables in his hand and turned to look at the dinner table. He thought about it for a while before handing the piece of bok choy leave to Cheng Huan and said, "Then mommy can make this tonight."

"Um, okay." Cheng Huan held the vegetable in the palm of her hand, patted XingXing on his head and had him go and sit at the table.

XingXing jogged out while Cheng Huan turned around, picked up all vegetable pieces and tossed them all into the trash can.

She then pulled out two bowls from the cabinet, filled them both with cooked rice, and brought them out.

After lunch, Cheng Huan went over to Ping'an Village.

She had thought it over. She has neither status nor money, there was no reason for anyone to scam her. Perhaps while she felt that several million of yuan was a lot of money really wasn't that much for a developer?

As she had heard that Ping'an was already half demolished, Cheng Huan felt that it was unsafe and didn't want to bring XingXing with.

She asked her neighbor to watch him and left on her own.

Before she headed out, XingXing waved at her enthusiastically and asked her to be home soon. He waited until the elevator's door was closed before he reluctantly went inside the house with his neighbor aunty.

For the two plus months that Cheng Huan had transmigrated over, she had only stayed in Ping'an Village for a few days. The place was still quite lively when she left. When she returned this time, the tube-shaped apartments in the front were already half-way demolished. The rebars were exposed with debris on the ground. The placed looked quite forlorn.

The temporary office set up by the demolition company was located inside Ping'an Village. Cheng Huan asked about it's whereabout from someone, knocked on the door, and walked inside.

There was quite a bit of people inside the office and it was noisy. She waited for a quite a bit and finally a group of people left and she was able to walk in front of a desk.

The workers there were relatively enthusiastic and, after confirming the address of her unit, started explaining the compensation terms to her.

The street director had more or less explained all the compensation terms to her previously. Basically, it could take one of two forms – apartment or money.

If she wanted an apartment, the replacement apartment was located inside a developing suburb area. Using the standard of a 1:3 ratio, each 1 square meter of tube-shaped apartment would convert into 3 square meter in the new unit. If she chose money instead of an apartment, she would receive 50,000 yuan per square meter. A price that was comparable to the market value in the surrounding area.

This compensation term was quite generous. Most of the residents accepted it quite quickly. Occasionally one or two residents tried to ask for more money but they were ignored by the developer. One way or another, they wouldn't pay them more than what they had already offered.

Cheng Huan couldn't be happier with this offer and almost accepted it without giving it too much thought.

The steps that followed was even easier. Registering the unit, taking measurements of the unit, signing the paperwork, and walking away with the money.

Cheng Huan thought the house was at most 60 square meters; somehow, they got 75 square meters when they measured it. At the rate of 50,000 yuan per square meter, Cheng Huan received 3.75M yuan as compensation. She signed her name, walked out of the demolition office, and went back to her apartment; the entire time feeling like she was sleepwalking.

When the elevator reached her floor, Cheng Huan had to try a few times before she was able to fit her key into the keyhole. Finally, standing at the front of her apartment and looking at the familiar décor, the sense of surprise has finally set in.

She pulled out the check that she had laid flat in her purse, looked over the amount multiple times and, finally, had a look of disbelief on her face.

She got the money just like that? 3.75M yuan? It had only been three hours since she had left her apartment!

Cheng Huan looked again at the amount on the check and let out a long sigh of relief.

That was incredible efficiency!
