"Your dad is looking for you."

I was right. It was about Dad.

"All right, I'm on my way."

I dropped the call.

I immediately went home, and Mommy met me at the door. There was a look on her face that indicated my suspicion was correct.

I sighed, trying to get rid of the fear in my chest.

And the question is, how can I tell him about the project that I have to stay for one week with Jhunel, my ex-boyfriend?

I close my eyes as I face the door of Dad's office. My hands are shaking. It was a nightmare to be in this room again. I remember when I was little, this room brought a lot of trauma to me. He wants me to be perfect, which is why I am pursuing a degree with flying colors. I want him to be proud of me for having an only daughter who is useful to him.

I took a deep breath before I touched the doorknob. I slowly entered Dad's office. The cold breeze welcomed me.

I saw him wiping his gun, a revolver. He looked at me when I entered.

"Don't you know how to knock?" he muttered.

"S-sorry, Dad. I was in a rush to go to your office," I explained.

"Did I ask you to explain?"

I bit my lip. His cold stare really made me nervous. It feels like I was in hell, but a real cold hell where anytime now I can freeze and die.

"Sorry, dad," I apologized.

"Stop apologizing. Sit." He ordered me to sit in front of him.

How he beats me every time I fail to be at the top of my class. How I always disappoint him and disgrace his name when all I did is to exert a lot of efforts to please him.

I closed my eyes. I could feel the tremor in my chest kasabay nang panginginig ng mga kamay ko sa takot. My knees are weak too.

"I heard you were with a guy," he hinted.

"Dad, it was my ex-boyfriend. H-he transferred to my school," agad kong paliwanag.

"I wasn't talking about him. I am talking about this guy."

I was surprised when he put down the photos from the large envelope. Hindi ko inaasakan ang makikita ko. The pictures were taken at the mall when I was with Jhon Rey just a while ago.

I was left speechless. I don't know how to explain this. Especially the scene of Jhon Rey holding my hand while we were playing.

"This guy, Jhon Rey Carpio..." Dad held his gun again. "He came from the Carpio family..."

And there, I realized that surname was familiar because it was the rival of Dad's company.

"Anong relasyon mo sa lalaking ito?"

"Dad, I swear, n-nothing's going on between us, Dad," I uttered. He glanced at me and seemed not to be convinced by what I said. "It just happened that he was there too. He just taught me how to play the game."
