Anne and I were left in the room, and neither wanted to speak first. I remembered again how I slapped her that day. I wish I hadn't confronted her in front of a lot of people first so that we wouldn't be embarrassed. Sana hindi ko siya sinaktan.
I was surprised when she hugged me. "I'm sorry, Sheen May."
Napaluha na rin ako. I know that at this time, even if we don't explain anymore, we have forgiven each other. I feel that I am blessed, and I have realized that now. Parang sobrang tagal naming hindi nagkausap at nagkasama sa paraan ng pagkakayakap niya sa akin. Mahigpit. Kakaiba.
"I'm sorry too, Anne. I should've let you explain."
"It's okay. I told you, I'm at fault too. I was careless. What I did makes you feel awful, and that's why I understand that." She caressed my back.
I let go of her embrace and looked at her. "Bakit ka ba umiiyak?" I asked, trying to tease her funny face.
"Kasi umiiyak ka rin." She snorted.
We laughed together like crazy.
"Bati na ba tayo?" she asked. "Hindi pa ba?"
It feels good to be reunited with my friend. Tama nga sila; you will feel the love of someone better after you argue and solve the problem. The bond of your relationship gets stronger when you pass the trials and you see her worth increased because you chose to fix it rather than leave it broken.
"Why are you here, Sheen May? What are you doing here at Aaron's family's private clinic?"
She sat on the couch, waiting for me to answer. Suddenly, nervousness rose in my chest. Hindi ko inakalang darating ang araw na ito na sa wakas ay maipagtatapat ko na sa kaniya ang hindi ko masabi noon.
"I had a check-up." I held back the tears while telling that to Anne. I saw that she seemed surprised by what I said.
"Checkup? Bakit? May sakit ka?"
"I'm pregnant, Anne," I answered.
The reaction on her face changed. She was surprised at the moment that she couldn't say a thing. I saw how her tears suddenly fell down her cheeks. She wiped it away immediately and looked away from me, looking like she was trying to find words to say.
"Y-you're pregnant? Bakit? Paano?"
I couldn't answer at all.
"How about your studies now? Are you going to school with a baby bump? I mean, it's not a problem for me to see you in a maternity dress, but are you going to be fine with that?"
I also thought about how many eyes would judge me at school when they saw me in that state. Paniguradong pagtatawanan nila ako at pag-uusapan, katulad na lang ng ginagawa nila kay Erica. The amount of discrimination that I will receive from them is something I know will be too much to handle.
"Sinong ama?" she muttered, which made me cry even more. I feel like I've never seen her so concerned about my condition, as if she doesn't know how to show whether she's happy or sad for me.
"Si Jhon Rey..." I sobbed.
She gasped. "Siya? Bakit siya? Bakit siya, Sheen May?" She couldn't get rid of the annoyance on her face. I saw how she clenched her fists and gritted her teeth.
"We were drunk."
"Kahit na. Hindi mo ba alam ginagawa niyo? I know it won't help you if I scold you now, but why did you let this happen?"
"I have been carried away by the gust of my emotions. How can I resist?"
She was stunned as if she had given up on how stupid her best friend was.
