Kim and Mira headed into the dojo, Kim with a lot more excitement than Mira. They spotted Jack using the new pegboard Rudy installed.
"There he is, ask him." Kim whispered.
"I'm too embarrassed..." Mira whined, blushing.
Kim's jaw dropped. "You are not backing out on me now." She hissed quietly.
"But Kimmmm...." She pleaded.
"No! We had a deal. Now ask him." She snapped through gritted teeth, shoving Mira forward.
Mira very hesitantly approached Jack as he climbed down from the peg board. "Oh, hey Mira. I was just trying out the new peg board. It's a great upper body workout."
But Mira was far too nervous to really listen. "...K-Karate." She said dumbly.
Jack's eyebrows furrowed. "...Yeah, a good workout for karate." He said with uncertainty before starting to climb the board again.
Mira looked at Kim for help, and Kim ushered her to try again.
"Um...listen, are you, um, busy? Saturday night?" She questioned.
"No. Why, you wanna do something?" He asked.
Mira felt like her face was on fire as she continued. "W-Well, maybe we could uh, go to the riverside country club for the swan's court cotillion-"
Jack fell from the pegboard, making Kim and Mira's jaws drop.
"Oh my gosh!" Mira panicked, already checking for any injuries on his head as he stood up. "Are you okay!?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine," Jack huffed. "But I am not going to any ball. I hate tuxedos, I can't dance and also, I'm a dude." He deadpanned. "Dudes don't do cotillions."
As Mira felt the crushing disappointment and embarrassment, Jerry, Theo, and Milton walked in.
"They probably don't have anything to do this Saturday." Jack reasoned.
"Actually we got roped into going to the swan's court cotillion. My mom's making me take her boss's dorky daughter." Milton huffed.
"And I'm taking her dorkier friend." Jerry complained.
Theo chuckled, munching on some licorice. "Wow, you guys have fun with that. Mira, why don't we go to a movie or something this weekend? My mom gave me extra allowance after crying into my bowl of cereal by accident during one of her sobbing sessions." He explained with a smile.
Kim and Mira shared a look, a bit unsure of how to proceed.
"Um...I-I would...but...Theo, we need to talk." Mira told him awkwardly.
Theo blinked. "What's up?"
"I've been thinking...since um, since our trip to China...that...maybe it's time..." Mira winced. "You...weren't my bodyguard 24/7"
The others, besides Kim, gasped.
Theo looked at her in disbelief. "Are you breaking up with me?"
She gave him a deadpanned stare. "If you want to be dramatic about it. Come on Theo, I feel better after having faced Kai, and now that I'm not scared of Jack anymore...I think it's time I try and be on my own. And you need to have your own life too!"
"But I like this life." He sulked.
Mira smiled softly. "I know. We can still be friends."
"Well...if you're sure." Theo said with uncertainty.
Kim bit her lip. "So...Theo, now that you're free. Any chance you'd wanna go with me to the cotillion?"
Theo blinked. Then he chuckled. "That sounds awful." He stated before walking away, leaving the others horrified.
