Ellie's POV

I was sitting around for a couple of hours with the dog, making sure to bring him outside every half an hour or so. Even if he is potty trained, he doesn't know where the door is to let me know that he's gotta go out. I formed a really good bond with him, testing what he knows and doesn't know. He recognizes a few words like "treat", "play", "toy", "outside", etc. That makes it clear he is potty trained; knowing the word "outside". It's very clear someone abandoned him because of how trained yet skinny he is. Or maybe he ran away from home...

I didn't want to think about that.

I had already fed him and a water bowl was sitting nearby. Since we didn't have dog food, obviously, I found some uncooked chicken and gave that to him. I hope it doesn't make him sick but it was all we really had. I discovered that he knows some simple tricks; such as sit, lay down, stay, speak, quiet, and come. But he doesn't know anything complex.

Raymon was the first to walk down the stairs about three hours later, stretching and still yawning as he did so. The dog noticed him before he noticed it. Without any warning, Raymon was jumped. He staggered but stayed on his feet as the dog was jumping on his legs. I giggled. "Surprise!"

Raymon was speechless as he patted the dog, trying to assess whether it was real. Once the surprise was over, he bent down and rubbed the dog all over. "Elli-" he was interrupted by the dog licking his mouth, to which he spat and complained. I laughed out loud. "Ellie, why is there a dog in here? Where did he come from?" The dog was still all over him, yearning for more attention and Raymon gave it.

"Found him in the backyard," I explained again. "No collar and looks abandoned."

"Yeah, you're right about that," Raymon commented. "So what's happening? He got a home, are we keeping him, or...?"

"Cheyanne said if it turns out he doesn't have a home and ya'll agree, then yes."

Raymon pumped the air with a fist. "So you wanna keep him?" I asked hopefully.

"Well duh. I mean, look at him!" Raymon stood up and pointed to the dog with an open palm. The dog sat on its haunches at his heels. "How could I send him away?"

"Ugh, I so wanna wake up Justin," I grumbled. "I NEED his reaction to this lil guy."

Raymon smirked. "Who said we gotta wait?"

I considered his words. "But Cheyanne said-"

"Ah, who cares what she said?" Raymon waved me off. "Let's go."

"Yeah, let's go!" I ushered the dog up the stairs and Raymon followed me. We approached Cheyanne and Justin's bedroom door together quietly. I held the dog by the scruff as I opened the door a crack and peered inside. They were both sound asleep still. I opened the door more and let the dog inside. Raymon and I watched from the door crack. He sniffed the floor for a couple of seconds and his nose led to the people on the bed. He jumped up onto the bed, his small body barely making it.

The dog basically shook Justin from his sleep. "Just five more minutes," he moaned. The dog climbing all over him made him more alert. "What-OH MY-"

Justin's scream woke Cheyanne. "Oh, Ellie, really?!" she exclaimed when she noticed the dog but laughed seeing Justin struggle to get it off of him.

"Where did this thing come from?!" he exclaimed. Raymon and I were both laughing by the door.

"Get in here you two!" Cheyanne shouted. Obeying her command, we stepped into the room.

"Hey, he's kinda cute," Justin said once he got the dog under control in his lap. "Where'd he come from?"

"Backyard, no collar, looks abandoned," I explained for literally the third time.
