[11] Castle takeover

"-ready the castle for takeoff."

"Yes, commander."

You groaned in pain. Your eyes slowly opened and in front of you see Shiro on the ground with his hands tied behind his back. You slowly got up and looked to your right to Lance on the ground as well.

Your hand weren't tied behind your back like Shiro's , but you hid them away to pretend like they were. It might come in handy. Your eyes trailed up and saw Sendak standing on the platform. You stayed quiet, not wanting to get caught.

'I know the others will come help, but this is still scary as hell'

"Run main cluster activation sequence."

"Activation sequence initiated. Powering up for launch."

Buttons were clicked and screens were shown all while you scanned the area for escape routes you could take. You could dash out right now, but you couldn't just leave Shiro and Lance.

"Commander Sendak, we are ready for launch."

'Come on, Pidge'

"The main engine just shorted out!"

Sendak walks up to the control panel and pulls up a feed of the Central Energy Chamber and sees Pidge fleeing.

"We have a saboteur. Find him and take him out."

The next day came and you were sitting with Shiro, crisscrossing your legs.

"Haxus! I want whoever's in this ship found and terminated!"

"Commander Sendak, I've received a transmission generating from somewhere inside." Haxus plays a communication channel between Allura and Pidge.

"There's not much time before they get the ship running again. You must shut off the particle barrier so we can get in." Allura explained.

"You got it. Tell me what to do." Pidge said.

"The particle barrier generator is beneath the main hull." Allura started.

"She's telling the intruder how to take down our defenses."

"Yes, but she's also giving away his location. Find that room. Kill the Paladin!" Sendak orders the sentries as they leave.

"Repair the engine. Emperor Zarkon has commanded us to bring him Voltron. This ship will rise before day's end."

Haxus leaves to go repair the engine. You look over at Shiro. "Hey" Shiro looks at you. "Are you ok?"

Shiro takes a deep breath and sighs, "It's just.. I- I couldn't protect the castle and now Voltron is being shipped to Zarkon. I'm the least of Voltron for goodness sake. I feel like it my fault."

Now you get it. Shiro felt like everyone depended on him and that he has to lead the team by himself. "It wasn't your fault, Shiro. No one saw this coming."

Well, you kinda knew this was coming, but it had to happen for plot reasons.

You comforted the sad paladin, "Its ok to not know what to do as the leader. Just know that you don't have to lead by yourself. The team is here for you. And I know that they all trust you as their leader, myself included."

Shiro looked at you with admiration in his eyes. Then smiled at you. "Thank you for that, (y/n)"

"Haxus, report in." Both you and Shiro diverted your attention to Sendak.

There was a long pause, then Pidge's voice came in, "Haxus is gone, and you're next!"

"You've slowed me down, but this ship is mine! You will turn yourself over to me immediately!" Sendak declared.

"Never!" Pidge shouted.

"Well, then, maybe your leader can convince you." Sendak turned to Shiro and started walking toward the two of you.

"What do you want?" Shiro growled.

"Your friend wanted to hear from you." One second Sendak was reaching for Shiro, the next you were in a chokehold.

"(Y/N)!" Shiro yelled.

"Mmmm, what a brave one we have here." Sendak hummed, "why sacrifice yourself?"

"I don't need a reason to protect others." You choked out. Sendak studied you for a moment before grinning ear to ear. "We'll see about that. You'd be a great asset to the Galra."

" Bitch please. " you snarled, grabbing onto Sendak's hand for support. Shiro scrambled to get up as he watched you get choked by the galrain.

"I'm sure the witch will have fun with you" Sendak smirked.

"Shiro, (y/n)?" Pidges' voice rang out.

"Pidge, don't listen to—" You tried to warn her but ended up getting electrocuted. A piercing scream erupted from your throat. It hurt like hell.

You could feel the electric voltages run through you body. It was like you were being cooked alive.

The shocks soon ceased, ringing clouded your hearing. "Fuuck.." you moaned. Your eyes were getting heavy. Shit, you can't faint now.

Your body was harshly thrown to the floor. You could barely hold yourself up from all the damage you've taken. (Stop whenever I say that it reminds me of Minecraft 😭)

"Off to dreamland," you muttered. Yea, you deserved a break. Everything will be ok. Your eyes closed as you heard a soft 'purr' that lulled you to sleep.
