"Semi-Charmed Life"- Third Eye Blind
Being in love with one of your best friends' girlfriends is one of the most horrific things in the entire world. How would I know? Because I can hear the two of them moaning from the other side of my bedroom wall and it's killing me.
I lay on my bed, staring at the ceiling as the sound of Taylor Perez's moans filled my ears.
Garrett Gray was one of my closest friends, we met freshman year of college when we first joined the hockey team. I adored the guy, he was a great friend, I loved hanging out with him. Until he met Taylor and everything changed.
It was honestly all my fault that they were even together right now. 5 months ago was the day Garrett met Taylor.
I sip on my drink as my friends continue to talk about the time we went skinny dipping. My eyes wander around The Grill, it was where we always ate. It was like a big hangout spot for college students. And the food was amazing.
My eyes stop at the front door where a pretty girl rushes inside. She was wearing the work uniform as she went over to the bar. I watch her disappear into the back for a second before she comes back out. I've seen her around a lot on campus, I always admired her but never had the guts to say anything.
She goes up to Stacy who was our waitress for the night. I studied her face, she was beautiful. She had long brown hair that was pulled into a loose ponytail and big eyes, her skin was tan and clear.
I admired her for a while as I tried to stay engaged in the conversation with my friends. I felt like a creep but I just couldn't take my eyes off her.
We put in our orders for food before Garrett gets up to go to the bathroom. Chris and Jake continue to talk about god knows what while they eat their food. I watch the pretty waitress serve her tables as I wait for my food to come out.
I watch her go back to Stacy who gives her a plate of food. The pretty girl looks over at our table and my heart stops. She says something to Stacy before making her way towards our table.
I smile at her as she places my food down in front of me. She was even prettier up close, I've never seen someone this gorgeous. Well, except for one girl.
"Can you get me a refill on this soda, babydoll?" Chris asks her as he hands her his empty cup.
She nods before taking the cup and turning around to walk away. She doesn't get far before she runs right into Garrett.
"Shit, my bad." He chuckles as he looks at the soda dripping on her uniform.
The second he looked at her, I knew I was done for.
I made a bet with him over her, hoping it'd work to make sure they never end up together. Garrett hated relationships, he's never been in a serious one until Taylor. I was happy that he loved a girl as much as he loved her. I remember how it feels to be in love like that. I was only ever in love once in my life. It was with a girl who changed my life completely. But now, I think I was in love with Taylor. But I'd never have her. She was Garrett's, not mine. I was extremely jealous of him. He had everything I wanted.
I groan as I grab my headphones off my nightstand and put them into my ears. I grab my phone and decide to blast "Too Much To Ask" by Niall Horan. I was always a big One Direction fan growing up. Me and my girlfriend from high school always listened to them. I still remember her singing her heart out to the songs all the time. We would even quiz each other on who knew them better.
