I watched as Brennen walked into the gas station and smiled to myself. I loved these late-night drives with him; it was like a reset button for me. I pay for the gas and put the pump into the tank and wait for it to fill up.

"Excuse me?" I hear a voice say.

I turn around and see a man standing on the other side of the car.

"Yes?" I ask.

"Is that machine taking cash?" He asks as he begins to walk around the car towards the tank I was in front of.

"Uh, I don't know, I'm using a card." I say.

"Hm, the one I'm at isn't taking cash." He says as he gets closer to the tank.

I looked around, there were like 3 other open tanks.

"Well, you could go to another tank." I suggest.

He nods as he looks at me before he pulls his shirt up to reveal a gun in his waistband.

My heart drops.

I block out the horrific memory and look back at the boy I loved. Yes, that memory will haunt me for the rest of my life. Because I know that I didn't deserve to go through something like that. No one should. But it happened and there was nothing I could do about it except be grateful to still be here.

"I'll bet 50 bucks you won't go skinny dipping in the water." I tell Brennen.

"Is that a bet?" He asks.

"Maybe." I smirk.

"I'm a master at bets, Julianna." He says.

"No, Garrett is. Remember? He won the bet with Tay-Tay." I remind him.

"I'm the second best at bets." He rolls his eyes.

I laugh.

"If I go in, you have to come with me." He says.

"Hell no." I say.

"Don't be a pussy, Julianna." He says.

"Am not." I snap.

He gives me a pointed look and I couldn't help but smile at him.

"Fine." I say as I stand.

We both get up and take our clothes off. We both laugh as we run down to the water, he takes my hand into his and we both run into the water. He screams like a little girl as he hugs his body.

I laugh at him, "You're such a baby."

"It's freezing." He says.

"It's not even that cold." I say as I tread water.

He rolls his eyes before he tackles me under water. We come back up for air and I splash water into his face.

"Asshole." I laugh.

He chuckles as he wipes the water from his eyes. We smile at each other and my heart races, I loved it here with him. I never wanted it to end.

"You're pretty." He whispers.

"I know." I smile.

He smiles before pulling me close to him, I smile as he places his head against mine.

"All mine?" He asks.

"All yours." I whisper against his lips.

He smiles before placing his lips against mine. I wrap my legs around his waist as he kisses me passionately. It was like all the missing pieces in my life were connected again. Everything in front of me is right in front. This boy, this lake, this night. It was my everything.
