Brennen

"shouldn't i give up"- mehro
I was sitting in the living room of the house, watching TV, bored out of my mind. The house was empty and I didn't know what to do with myself. I was dying here. I couldn't drive myself anywhere other than this house. I felt like I was in prison.
I hear footsteps making me frown. Did someone break into the house?
I turn my head and watch Taylor walk down the stairs. My heart skips. I didn't know she was here.
"Hey, I didn't know you were still here." I voice as she walks into the living room.
"I slept in. Did everyone leave?" She asks.
I nod, "Yeah, they're out and about while I'm stuck here."
"Do you wanna come shopping with me? I have to get some stuff for Garrett's birthday party." She explains.
I know I should decline her offer because being around her was never good for me. But when she looked at me with those big brown eyes, I just wanted to fall to her feet.
"Sure." I smile.
What the fuck was I doing?
She waits for me to get ready before we both make our way to her car parked on the driveway. We drive to Party City and she talks about random things. I didn't really listen, I just admired her beauty. I could watch her talk for the rest of my life.
Once we got to Party City, she grabbed a cart and we made our way around the store. I tried myself to keep up with her, I knew she was trying to walk slowly for me but I didn't want her to waste her time waiting for me.
"I need to get balloons, streamers, and I wanna get a silly string to spray on him when he wakes up in the morning." She explains.
I chuckle, "He's gonna kill you if you do that."
She looks at me and smiles, "I know. I love making him mad."
I follow her around as she talks and grabs the things she needs for the party. I loved just spending time with her like this. I wondered if this was how Garrett felt whenever he was with her. It was so perfect.
"Which color?" She asks as she holds up a pack of gold streamers in one hand and black streamers in the other.
I tried to focus on the streamers but all I could focus on was her face. She didn't have much makeup on, she had some light eyeliner on the edge of her eyes, and some blush that made her skin glow. Her lips were pink, the color looked so natural on her.
"So?" She asks, snapping me back to reality.
"Oh, uh, I like both of them." I tell her.
"Hmmm." She hums as she looks at them.
"You're right, they go well together. Let's do both." She voices.
"I agree." I smile.
"You have great taste, Brennen." She says as she places the streamers into the shopping cart.
"Thank you." I reply as I continue to follow her through the store.
It felt like we were a couple, almost, we were shopping, talking, asking for each other's opinion. But I had to remind myself that she was Garrett's girlfriend, not mine. Maybe if I had met her sooner, things would've been different. I remember the first time I actually saw Taylor, it was months before she had met Garrett.
I walked down the sidewalk towards the library. I had a lot of shit to get done, and I knew I wouldn't be able to focus at home with all the guys around. I love my friends, but sometimes they are a pain in the ass.
