ON THURSDAY MORNING, my dad made me waffles for breakfast. "Hi Dad!" I greeted him, getting out a small bottle of iced coffee from the fridge before sitting at my usual place at the front island. "Thanks for the waffles by the way!" I smiled at him, before cutting up the waffle in front of me.
"It's the least I could do," said my Dad, standing there in his pink apron, hands on his hips. "Your second week of school almost gone by" he said and I grinned.
"I can't believe it! It's gone by so quickly!" I said, through mouthfuls of waffle. Suddenly, my phone pinged, and I smiled upon seeing the notification.

I quickly turned off my phone, placing it face down next to me. "Dad," I looked up. My dad just hummed while washing the dishes. "Can I go work on my project at my classmates house tomorrow after hockey practice?"
"Is it a boy?" he asked, momentarily pausing his actions. "Yeah," I said, looking at my dad with big eyes. "He's not going to do anything with you, right?" he asked, and I shook my head. "No no, he's very respectful!" I assured him. This wasn't a lie, but I certainly hoped it was the truth.
