"IT'S ELEVEN, HAEJIN," Jay said softly, walking over to the cash register and patting my shoulder softly. "It's time for my shift now" he said. I rubbed my eyes with my sleeves, and nodded.
"See you tomorrow!" I waved him off. It was Wednesday, and I had just finished my shift at the store. As I walked out of the store, I was met by the cool fall breeze, and the pure sound of emptiness on the streets.
I zipped up my hoodie fully, before putting my hood on and shoving my hands into my pockets. My bag hung loosely on my back, and I began to walk.
My eyes were tired and I struggled to keep them open. And then from the corner of my eye, I could see a person in an all black attire following me.
My breathing hitched. This had happened for weeks now, a stranger suspiciously tailing me. I kept my face hidden in my hood before walking faster, long strides turning into steady running as I tried my best to loose the person on my tail.
But it was futile.
I felt someone roughly slam me against a wall in a random alley way. I looked up, trying to see who the person was. The lower half of their face was covered by a black mask. Sharp and prominent eyes glared back at me.
There was a glimmer of uncertainty in those eyes. A glimmer of fear and innocency. "Get off me!" I yelled, trying to free myself of their grip. I managed to kick them in the stomach, leaving me some time to run.
But I was pulled back, and my eyes widened upon seeing a knife brandished in the other persons hand. I tried to punch them in the arm, but it didn't work. Instead, I could feel the knife cut through the skin on my arm, blood seeping through my dark hoodie.
I immediately hissed in pain, my left hand coming up to block the blood from escaping further. "What the fuck?!" I yelled out to the person. But they were gone.
And with all the strength I could muster, I ran all the way back home.
