So that's it. The day when he has to leave the love of his life behind and doesn't know when he will see him next. The day he will leave his heart here with this man. The day he dreaded so much.

Louis doesn't want to open his eyes, doesn't want it to become reality and wants to spend more time in this half-awake state. But then concern for Harry comes to the fore again and he slowly opens his eyes. Some daylight comes through the thick curtains and bathes his sleeping angel next to him in a soft light. The curls lie like a halo around his head, the chest rises up and down in slow breaths, lips that are slightly parted and always look so damn inviting to kiss.

He's like the sweetest candy and I'm dying for another taste.

Louis' gaze wanders to Harry's arm, which is still propped up on the many pillows he grabbed from the sofa yesterday. Even under the bandages and in the dim light, Louis can see that his wrist is swollen and he hates it so much that his boyfriend is hurt and he can't be there for him any longer. How is Harry supposed to help himself around the house and with everyday things without his right hand? Louis just wants to be there for him, wants to make sure every second that he doesn't lack anything and that he is supported.

He slowly turns away from Harry and reaches for his mobile phone on the table next to the bed. An unread message from his mother from last night is waiting for him.

Mum
How is Harry? Are you both okay?

Louis
Good morning mum, Harry has an overstretched tendon in his right wrist. It could have been worse... but I don't know how to leave him behind 😥

Mum
Good to hear from you. Harry will be fine, a broken wrist would have been worse. Tell him to get well soon and remember that we have to check out of the hotel at 10.

Louis bites his lip nervously. Only two more hours. And it feels so wrong. Without thinking about it any further, he types the next lines.

Louis
Would you be very angry if I stayed here and didn't come home with you?

Mum
Louis... How are Lottie and Fizzy supposed to get home? We need your car. And you've barely been on vacation with us anyway. I can't forbid you to do anything, but you should at least know that you have an obligation and that I can't leave the older ones behind or even have to drive twice. How do you imagine that?

Louis
You're right. I'm going with you. But can you give me more time? Until this afternoon? Please!

Mum
Okay boo. We'll do something till then. Departure at 4 p.m. and not a minute later.

Louis
Thanks!

Mum
I know how difficult it is for you. But you will see each other again!

Tears well up in his eyes unhindered and he puts his phone aside again, blinks quickly and stares at the ceiling so as not to completely lose his composure. He breathes in deeply and lets the air escape his lungs for a long time. Then he turns to the side again and is briefly startled when Harry is already looking at him.

"You're awake," Louis whispers, moving closer to Harry and wrapping a leg over him.

"And you're sad," Harry whispers back, extending his arm so that Louis can snuggle even closer to him.

Louis breathes a kiss on Harry's neck and then searches his eyes again. "Yes. And you don't?"

"Yes, very much so. I don't want to let you go. Plus my wrist hurts so much. Can you give me one of the pills, baby?" Harry sighs and lifts his arm, but immediately drops it again with a hiss.
